Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 May 11, 2011 12:59 am Looking at some options for structural wiring. Internet access is the only use. Dont have Foxtel and dont have need to stream / share media. Currently have wireless but would like a wired option. Have a quote for: Study: 3 data points HT: 2 data points, 1 coax Living: 2 data points, 1 coax Family: 2 data points, 1 coax Master: 1 data points, 1 coax 3 beds: 3 data points total (1 each) All cat6. Patch panel, Clipsal harmonica Quote: $5500. This seems to be a lot more that what people have suggested eg. roughly $140 per run. How much should I be paying for this setup Re: Strutural Wiring Quote 2May 11, 2011 12:09 pm I'd go a minimum of 2 points anywhere. And at least 4 for study and anywhere there's a tv. Yes, the quote is pretty rich. You should be able to do alot better. I have a quote for 20 data points, cat6 cabling and patch panel for $2200. Someone else would charge $128 per zone for data cabling + the cost for the patch panel. Either way that would be much less than what you have been quoted. You should probably get a couple of extra quotes as it looks like you are being ripped off.
