Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Apr 23, 2011 8:59 am i havent got thousands to spend on surround system but do want a good quality audio experiance as i want to run my music through it. i,ve been looking at the sony muteki system http://www.cnet.com.au/sony-muteki-htdd ... 297864.htm and can get it for under $800 but i do wonder of the sound quality. my friend has a home built system using a yamaha receiver and all sorts of other makes and is LOUD and very clear but he spent 5 grand which i dont have. on my want list is 3d capable 7-1 or 7-2 be able to connect my samsung galaxy s to it for music great audio not too bothered about massive volume as we live in a neighbourhood. wall mount speakers not too worried about the fronts as i have speaker boxes built into the wall any advise would be great thanks Re: HTIB or a bitza system 2Apr 26, 2011 9:39 am Hi mate. A system like that from the usual players in the (even affordable) quality audio space should start at about $2.5K ~ $3K, so I'm left wondering just how many corners Sony (a brand known for charging at the higher end of the price range for things like TVs and projectors because they believe those products are worth top dollar) has cut to be able to sell a system with that much gear for so small a price! P.S. $$ doesn't buy volume - that's easy. $$ pays for the ability to play the music/audio with all of the resolution, clarity, weight, air, etc. (ie. quality!), at ANY volume level. The better the system (and usually the more $$ it costs) the better it does this. Cheap systems that can go loud tend to do so at the total expense of the quality of the sound. P.P.S. Until something drastically different and new comes along that changes things I will never see an iPod or phone as a legitimate source for producing quality audio. Even through expensive and good quality headphones - and I have a few (not the average ones that come with the iPhone) the music coming out of my iPhone sounds like sh!t, when compared to how it sounds coming from a CD player or my Media PC (via one of my real sound systems). Re: HTIB or a bitza system 3Apr 27, 2011 10:56 pm thanks rod very informative and true.ive not heard the sony going so do wonder how it sounds. i run a samsung galaxy s and with the earphones in and 5-1 set the sound is good.trouble is ive never really had any really good quality systems to try anything through.i have an old jvc surround and yes its loud but the quality is average Once you know the basics, the rest is easy.
