Basically it just needs to be VESA compatible and be solid. Other than that you should speak to the people selling them - I know TCC and Selby are happy to discuss this stuff with customers. Re: Are all TV Brackets created equal? 4Mar 29, 2011 3:21 pm Thanks Rodda, was interesting to me also. It is great and I was extremely impressed with how all the bits and pieces were packaged in the box. It was extremely clear. Re: Are all TV Brackets created equal? 7Mar 30, 2011 10:55 am I got a selby one off ebay, great price, free postage and very good product... I think someone on here reccommended it or has something to do with the company Selby itself..can't remember. But highly reccomend one. We have only bought one for now for our 50" TV, but will be buying another for our 42" TV. Re: Are all TV Brackets created equal? 8Mar 31, 2011 8:54 pm just shop around for the good deal ... There is nothing special about Selby brackets, i.e. they are not "Selby" bracket, they are the brackets that Selby re-sell. I used to buy some from them, but last time I check the price, it went up nearly 30% in no time. I ended buying from different supplier and found that I bought the same brand of bracket at cheaper price. Re: Are all TV Brackets created equal? 10Apr 01, 2011 2:27 pm Is it essential to reinforce the wall prior to plastering stage? Or will a bracket do all the reinforcing that is required? What should one do (if anything) prior to plastering, to ensure the TV is secure on the wall? Re: Are all TV Brackets created equal? 11Apr 01, 2011 2:53 pm Make sure you screw that sucker into a stud or noggin. It's probably wise to ad some extra braces before plaster if you can. I didn't, so now i've just gotta hope the height I want coincides with where the noggin is. Unfortunately the 65" telly I want isn't going to hang off fresh air. On a 65" TV you are likely to cover 3 stud widths even at 600mm centres. There is absolutely NO CHANCE of not hitting a stud in your case. This is also true of most TV's down to about 37" in size. Re: Are all TV Brackets created equal? 13Apr 01, 2011 3:33 pm Hahaha, that's a good point Matt! This is a case of me thinking ahead without thinking at all. Happens a bit. Assuming that it's an average size room and 2.7m ceiling? Re: Are all TV Brackets created equal? 15Apr 04, 2011 9:24 am Depends where you want the TV, and that all depends on where you find it most comfortable! So even for a screen that big, as long as you get good purchase on at least 2 studs (eg. 2 very decent (likely hex-head) screws minumim per stud) there is no need for any 'extra' bracing to be installed prior to plaster going up. It would take a lot more force than the weight of a 65" flat TV to pull those studs through the plaster or pull those decent screws out of the timber... I'd say anything approaching but not longer than 90mm (so including the plaster will stop short before going through the other side of the stud) and with a centre/core at least 4mm I guess. As an example The Cable Connection's brackets come with a small collection of bolts and washers and with 6 very decent hex-head screws that are these sorts of dimensions from memory...
