My Mum used to play the same stuff + Dean Martin and others. My wife's father used to play records repeatedly until everyone was sick of Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and others. I think most of us have a similar upbringing. Now its OUR TURN to inflict our tastes upon our offspring! Ash. (And don't be rude!!!) That's just me.... I blame my parents for playing damn Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdink etc. LOUD, in the mornings on the weekends when i was young... You should've seen the kick *** sound system my mum had in her last car!!!! duf, duf, duf, duf........ If you like to feel bass then you’ll need to invest in one or more good quality subs. I don’t own any SVS subs from the link I posted earlier although I’ve heard a few. There are also a few good local speaker builders that have IMO cost effective quality subs as well. Re: How big a screen can we get??? 26Jan 04, 2008 8:43 am Rodda The Screen Technics CinemaSnap (Fixed Frame) 16:9 screens come in 100", 110", 115" and then 125" in their standard sizes (as well as other standard sizes both above and below this range, but I don't think they offer a 120" 16:9 in a Fixed Frame screen). The screen pictured in 'Joe's' theatre (those pictures we posted a little while ago of that awesome theatre with the ornate columns on the walls, the gold-leaf edged ceiling feature and the crimson cinema carpet, etc.) is a 115" CinemaSnap. I have a 115" ElectriCinema. Matt had a 120" ElectriCinema (now he has that 135" CinemaSnap!!!! ). Hey Rod, so what type of screen do you recommend if we go the Cinema Snap range, there is: Matt white, Matrix White, Micro Perf???? Also is it true there's a BenQ W20000 out????? Re: How big a screen can we get??? 27Jan 04, 2008 1:53 pm Hi Phoenix.
Just stick with Matt White. Matrix White is a newer technology where some tricky materials are used in the surface of the screen to increase the contrast of the image they reflect, and there is always some sort of trade-off (however small) like hot-spotting or loss of colour accuracy for example. They are actually aimed more at environments where controlling light is a bit of an issue. As the image reflected from a good quality Matt White screen is excellent as it is, we don't see enough reason to try to boost it's performance in one area at the expense another. Micro-Perforated screens have tiny holes puntured (evenly) throughout the entire surface of the screen. They were designed so you could put your centre speaker behind the screen itself! This gives you 1 gain of a better sonic image because your centre sounds exactly where it should be, but has 2 negatives with the loss of some degree of some of the sound from said centre speaker and a slight drop in the amount of light the screen then reflects. Again, here, we don't believe what you gain is worth anywhere near what you lose. As far as a BenQ W20000 - BenQ Australia have not yet formally informed us of it's impending arrival to take over from the W10000, therefore we don't know how much it will be either. I did manage to find another rave review for the W10000 (you can bet your life there will be some 'run-out' deals on this one from BenQ): http://www.ecoustics.com/secrets/volume ... art-1.html Re: How big a screen can we get??? 28Jan 04, 2008 2:19 pm Rodda Just stick with Matt White. So i think i'll wait for my little bargain...maybe Re: How big a screen can we get??? 30Jan 04, 2008 2:46 pm royalblue I bet Matt would say the same thing! about what Ash???? Re: How big a screen can we get??? 31Jan 07, 2008 11:38 am I've always found the best place to start for reviews on all types of A/V gear is ecoustics.com which is just a massive database of published on-line reviews.
Here's a list of their reviews for BenQ projectors (most recent reviews are for the W10000), which includes 1 of the 2 above (not sure why the CNet one isn't listed as I know they have CNet reviews there.. ?? ): http://search.ecoustics.com/Editorial/R ... Projector/ You have no photo with your post. Best I can say is to remove an A&L flyscreen don't be afraid to distort the frame almost like a trapezium. It doesn't take a lot of… 1 7062 2 4474 |
