Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 2Mar 23, 2011 6:06 am I have a Home Theatre room. But it's also the only room with a TV, so it's the TV viewing room, so to speak. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 4Mar 23, 2011 6:24 am I do.. I have a 1080p projector with 108" screen. My favourite room of the house.. It also doubles as a spare room when people stay over.. Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 5Mar 23, 2011 7:28 am I will, but I can't start on it until we've extended our house - and the plans for the extension have just begun the council permit phase... Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 6Mar 23, 2011 7:54 am I answered option 3 but is really 'No, I hardly ever watch movies anyway'. Haveing said that, we do have a separate lounge room and the TV is in there (a 48 in one, certainly not a huge one by todays standards). We do not have a TV in our casual liveing area - only other TV is a small one in the spare room and we rarely use that one. Have no plans to get any more TVs. Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 7Mar 23, 2011 9:26 am When we chose our house, one of the must haves was a seperate theatre/cinema room for just that purpose. We watch a lot of movies and it's nice to have a room that is dedicated for that purpose, so that when family and friends come over we are all mega comfy and cloistered away from those that might want to just chat or watch tv in the living area (our family get togethers are pretty big .) The OH wants to deck it out with all the mod cons (motorised projector screen and surroudn sound speakers etc etc) but we also want to have a tv in there so that he can watch his sports and i can watch my trashy tv Building Waldorf 44 with PD Feel free to follow our build progress - http://melnrobsknockdownrebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 8Mar 23, 2011 9:57 am Will be having a dedicated HT when I build.. maybe even themed... We have purchased a projector and screen for it. We will be even painting the whole room a dark charcoal colour!!!!! We love watching movies but the kids will aslo be able to play their PS3 and Xbox in there. Playing the xbox with that sensor thing on a huge screen is so much fun!!!!!! My plan was to have it double as a guest room as it's at the back of the house and then guests can watch t.v while in bed or if no one else is up. I am currently working on setting it up as a studio for my photography business at the moment, so it will be multi purpose one day Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 11Mar 23, 2011 12:38 pm Rudolf1980 We have built our home with a dedicated theatre room. Hi Rudolf1980, Are you referring to the Xbox Kinect?? My husband was concerned that it wouldn't work with the projecter as you'd be jumping around in front of the projected image... Have you had any problems so far? Thanks Helena Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 12Mar 23, 2011 1:09 pm hparis Rudolf1980 We have built our home with a dedicated theatre room. Have you had any problems so far? Thanks Helena Hi there, Yes, thats what it is called.lol. We havent got it yet ourselves as we are still building but our mates have. No problem with being in the way of the projected image as you are pretty much standing under the projector itself and unless you are really tall it works perfectly. Just to check, got down to a display such as big people picture and stand where you would playing it. We will normally be using it at night once the boys are in bed as its further away from the boys rooms, we have used the formal lounge/dining room as the boys oversized toy room, so once they no longer need a toy room we will change the formal areas into our media room and the current media room into a rumpus room with a bar area and pool table etc. It sounds as though the rooms are all over the place, but until you seen the plans you will notice that its not. We are not big on watching movies at home. We use the computers more than watch TV. I'd much rather go out and watch a movie than in my home anyway. We have 3 TV's in the house and will have a removable one in the alfresco. That's enough for us! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! It was on our list of must haves for the design. Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 18Mar 23, 2011 5:29 pm We have one and we love it. It is sooo much fun playing Band Hero/Sing Star in there and a great place to store the guitars and drums. We use it for movies, so comfortable with the recliner lounge and also to watch tv. It was great to watch season 1-4 of Dexter in there over summer! It is our favourite room. Forgot to say we have a fixed screen and a projector. Re: How many people in here have separate "Cinema Rooms" 19Mar 24, 2011 5:17 am Mine will be 7m x 5.5m and the acoustic design was done Erskine Architectural Acoustics in the US. I can't wait for it to be built. It was our main requirement when we were choosing floor plans . We absolutely love it. We painted ours purple and black. Sounds strange I know but it looks fantastic! We dont have proper furniture in there yet. 1/2 our couch is in the lounge rom and 1/2 in the home theatre but the projector is set up and we love it!!! We watch a lot of movies though.
