Thanks Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 3Mar 20, 2011 8:26 am 50 or 32mm conduits Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 4Mar 20, 2011 8:41 am jklow888 Just put in 50 mm and make your life easier - thats what we're doing. Also put in 45 deg connectors so its easy to pull cables. I agree, except I'd use 90 degree sweeping bends if possible Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 5Mar 20, 2011 10:00 am Trish jklow888 Just put in 50 mm and make your life easier - thats what we're doing. These look a lot easier than 45's - I hope there's enough space in our joists to use these Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 7Mar 20, 2011 6:06 pm Thanks all. I dont intend to use sweeps or bends as its not required for terminations in wall. Wasny sure about the plug end sizes for the pre length terminated cables. Thanks again. A sweep is a long corner ie a sweeping Bend... as opposed to a tight Elbow "Bend" which is hard to push a cable through Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 9Mar 20, 2011 9:26 pm Pugs, I'm pretty clued up on difference between a sweep and a bend - Electrician by trade. The Selby ends will go through a 50mm but would be REALLY tight through a 35mm. If you can get away without them ... do it! The Selby ends will go through a 50mm but would be REALLY tight through a 35mm. If you can get away without them ... do it! Why is that? (just interested to know) Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 12Mar 21, 2011 10:26 am Unless there is a definate need it is a waste of money with HDMI. There is no shielding required for HDMI (just keep it as far away as possible from 240v) and in some cases it restricts your ability to run extra cables etc due to the thickness of the cable. If you are just running inside a wall or through a wall and ceiling etc ... then a cable by itself is the cheapest and best way to go! Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 14Mar 21, 2011 12:43 pm the only time I would use a conduit is for behind a wall mounted TV and then I would use as posted above a 50mm conduit (if on an internal wall) Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 15Mar 21, 2011 12:47 pm As above ... just interested in your opinion. Why would you use a conduit for HDMI Pugs? because it is a bugger to try and re solder them when some dumb arsed gyrocker has screwed into the original one and you saw that I said Internal wall right ?? but hey if you want to justifie another cable pruchased due to damage that is your call... and that is My Opinion Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 17Mar 21, 2011 1:00 pm Yeah .. I saw! lol @ the plasterers! They must be the same around Australia In nearly 10 years in this business I have never had a cable screwed through however I have had plenty "glued" into place and "squeezed" by the plaster when screwed in. We have always tended to used lightly nailed in cable clips to ensure the cable is EXACTLY where we want it to be when we cut the hole in the plaster. The point is a good one though - It is always handy with certain builders too. Porter Davis here in Vic will not allow you to run your own cables during building (in most cases) but will allow the installation of conduits for later. I think there are cases for use and non use and both provide a good end result if installed correctly. Food for thought - love it! Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 18Mar 21, 2011 1:58 pm if the cable then goes on a External wall then I don't bother with Conduits I just ensure both ends are covered with plastic till they have hardware plugged into them as I always use wall plates and never go "bare end" to anything Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 19Mar 21, 2011 2:39 pm Pugs if the cable then goes on a External wall then I don't bother with Conduits I just ensure both ends are covered with plastic till they have hardware plugged into them as I always use wall plates and never go "bare end" to anything God bless plug through connectors!! Re: what size conduit for a HDMI Cable? 20 or 25mm 20Mar 21, 2011 8:45 pm Thanks fellas. Good info. Matt, the only reason I was going to use conduit was that between my "data room" and the Theatre/Games Room there are metal bands used in the Posistrut Flooring (2 tinmbers top and bottom with metal stirrups/webs/brackets between. The folded edge of these brackets is all ok, but some of the cut edges can be a bit sharp (not razor, but a cut edge in any case). So... I am a little concerned that I could damage a valuable cable pulling it through later. I am OB but have been slack ordering the cable. Maybe I will just be selective how i traverse the posistruts. It is a run of about 10m for this cable. What cable do you suggest as i noticed a couple of different spec HDMI at Selbys. Thanks again P.S. just noticed you sell cables also matt. Happy to purchase something you recommend. the conduit would need to be undamaged regardless of what network is in play. The conduit needs to be able to have fibre run through it.
