Have a look at BenQ projectors, you get heaps of bang for very little buck (comparitively). In particular the W10000 is awesome - DLP, 1920 x 1080 (1080P), 10,000:1 contrast ratio (that's DLP contrast, not LCD overstated contrast ), Faroudja DCDi processing on board, 23dB in economy mode. For < $6500 it simply rocks... Re: Have you automated your home? 23Dec 11, 2007 12:37 pm For a cheaper alternative - a 720P alternative, currently the Mitsubishi HC1100 DLP is good value. Re: Have you automated your home? 26Dec 11, 2007 6:29 pm Wow, they must have come down in price quite quickly. I was looking a few months ago and they were all up around the $10k mark.
I'll definitely look at the Benq, the specs off the internet look impressive and that's a pretty reasonable price. We are looking to get a fixed screen as the room is a dedicated theatre room, is there any particular brand you would recommend? Re: Have you automated your home? 27Dec 12, 2007 7:58 am We use, install and recommend Screen Technics screens (fixed, motorised, etc.). They are designed and manufactured in Sydney and are of high quality, and in our experience are a little more affordable than the LP Morgan (Herma) alternatives:

Home Automation 29Oct 10, 2008 8:59 pm A multizone control system is essentially a switch box that allows you to send a selected source (CD, FM radio, tape, etc.) to a specific room in your home. The control system can be a device that sends a line-level signal to an amplifier in the remote room(s), or it can have built-in amplifiers that send speaker level signals to the selected rooms(s). All of these types of systems allow you to listen to different sources simultaneously in different zones and are available in many configurations from four to as many as eight or more zones.
