Thank you Merry X'mas Hi there. I am a sparky, so I know some of your answers.... Not to sure about the tech specs of your system, however are you building Single or double storey? If it is single you can add your requirements later, (Provided you have a ceiling cavity and not a flat roof) but if it is double storey you need to get all cabling installed before any plaster is installed. Depending on your builder they may not allow you do this your self, or even use your own contractor. There is a higher chance they will allow you to use your own contractor, but they will need the correct insurances. As far as cat6 cabling goes, you can use it to set up a wired home network, installed in pairs you can use special converters to use it for HDMI, and you can also use it for using IR Targets and senders so you can hide your equipment in a cupboard and still use your remote. Cat6 can also be used for phone cabling, and some sprinkler system controls. Don;t be shy in using extra cables needed in the downstairs part of a double storey home... VERY difficult to change things later if you realise you missed something... Best of Luck and Merry Christmas!!!! It sounds like you have some research to do - you give the impression you want to do a lot of this work yourself and yet you also sound very new to a lot of this stuff - you have quite a bit you want to achieve so perhaps you should engage someone who actually has done this before...
