Cheers Re: Have I stuffed up??? 2Dec 08, 2010 10:37 am well I'm confussed... maybe draw a picture or post a picture and amb = amp ? as in amplifier? as in AV Receiver (it has an amp inside of it aswell as control feature so you can do vision / audio input switching but also amplify the low level of Line signals to be able to be played in Speakers) Amplifier = Generally, an amplifier or simply amp, is any device that changes, usually increases, the amplitude of a signal. The relationship of the input to the output of an amplifier—usually expressed as a function of the input frequency—is called the transfer function of the amplifier, and the magnitude of the transfer function is termed the gain from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amplifier AV Receiver = AV receivers or audio-video receivers are one of the many consumer electronics components typically found within a home theatre system. Their primary purpose is to amplify sound from a multitude of possible audio sources as well as route video signals to your TV from various sources. The user may program and configure a unit to take inputs from devices such as DVD players, VCRs etc. and easily select which source he or she wants to route to his TV and have sound output for. Unless you have some new, wizz-bang amp that has a TV tuner built into it you don't plug your TV antenna connection into your amp (** exception - if the amp has an FM tuner in it you can get FM reception from your TV antenna. Then I recommend splitting off a connection that you can use for your amp if you want). I suggest you run the TV antenna connection directly into your TV, unless you have an external recorder (PVR/HDD recorder) which will then need an antenna connection also. But even then, I still suggest an antenna connection directly into the TV so it can be used without having to turn any other piece of equipment on (if you just want to watch FTA TV...). Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive).
