Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Nov 16, 2010 9:44 am Gday all, Currently building and have run multiple services back to my hub (Yes I have an open ticket and have had it for 8 years ) Most of the work I have done has been in commercial enviroments with large server air conditioned rooms. In this case for my house, this tiny room is not well ventilated. In fact zero. I have all Data, Coax, Audio, Alarm wiring back to this location, including the T/O from the street. This is where I plan to have my router and power supply units, dvr, ups etc so you can imagine the heat this room that can build up. Is there a exhaust/ ventilator that can be mounted to the ceiling that runs 24/7, is quiet and very reliable and suitable for such a scenario? Re: 1m x 2m mini sever room - Ventialtion/Heating issues adv 2Nov 16, 2010 10:13 am These are quite but dont know about very reliable or running 24/7... worth a look: http://www.panasonic.com/business/building-products/ventilation-systems/pdf/CrossReference07.pdf Cheers Cozmo ______________________________ Building a PD Heywood 29 http://fromevetoeternity.blogspot.com/ Re: 1m x 2m mini sever room - Ventialtion/Heating issues adv 3Nov 16, 2010 8:36 pm I seem to remember someone a while back had a little setup that included a heat sensor which would turn on an exhaust fan when his server equipment got too warm. After years of dealing with computer and telecommunications installations that used fan forced air, the continually running fan wins hands down-one less thing to break with no thermostat and you get to learn what noise should be comin from the gear after a while. Obviously it's not as critical in a home environment as a big organisation, but if you've got critical infrastructure like alarms and stuff running from that room you'd want it reasonably cool. Having a mini-split system air conditioner is probably muchos overkill, but it all depends on how serious you are! Just the fans would wipe heaps off the operating temperature of those devices. I like it.
