Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Oct 29, 2010 2:33 pm I just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with getting fibre optic to the home. The estate that we will be moving to has this as standard and I want to understand the intricacies of this. I have alread been hit with an 'upgrade' of the convertor unit as I was told that the standard one doesn't allow more than a single video, LAN & voice outputs. As I have had no exposure to these technologies (even though I'm an IT worker) I just nodded my head and said 'yes', I'll pay for the upgraded unit. My view is that I would like to wire up my whole house with CAT5 but I've been told this isn't possible with fibre (which I highly doubt). Any thoughts or experience in this area would be appreciated. Plug in a modem/router & set up your network with Cat 5/6 or ??? Got a life, just can't find it! Not have it installed but Have Installed it into at least one Clients house so far. I have a few more lined up. and btw it is Cat5e, Not Cat5 Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Fibre Optic to the Home - Share your experience 5Oct 31, 2010 9:32 am You can find a lot more info http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1527442 There is a guide that has been compiled but can't find it currently.
