Re: XBox 360 for christmas 23Nov 20, 2007 10:26 am mattwalker Is it worse than the 360?? So to answer your question matt, is it worse than the 360: Technically the PS3 is easily the most powerful system. Has the best processor, graphics, has in built Hard Disk, has blu ray player. However it Really depends what you want to use the PS3 for. If you want to play games, there are a lot more exclusive games on the Xbox 360. So the Xbox 360 game library is currently far more superior. And if you're a casual gamer, then the Wii is great fun. Oh yeh, for those who owned a PS2, you'll need the PS3 60GB version in order to play your old PS2 games as the 40GB version doesnt have backwards compatibility. Thanks ewan, but I meant the heat / noisy fan issue... Re: XBox 360 for christmas 27Nov 20, 2007 11:00 am Is the 80 gig version available here? eBay only has them from Hong Kong?
Just advised Hubby and he still wants one - even a 60 gig. Will scour the pamphlets in the coming weeks. Re: XBox 360 for christmas 29Nov 20, 2007 12:02 pm Great thread! Jason has had every console under the sun at some stage i think He had alot of problems with the 360 even after we brought the fan for it. It was sent back twice to be fixed. In the end we sold it to cash converters ehehe.. He's now after a ps3. He has alot of his old games but i don't think he knows that you need the 60gb to play them on. Havent they stopped making the 60gb ones now? Re: XBox 360 for christmas 32Nov 20, 2007 1:23 pm If you want a PS3 and also still want to be able to play your PS2 games, shouldn't you just keep your PS2 and buy the cheaper 40GB version of the PS3?
The 60GB version is $300 more than the 40GB version (isn't it?). Even if your old PS2 is dying and you need a new machine for your old PS2 games, why not buy a new PS2 for $147 and then get the cheaper version of the PS3? At least then you'll be able to play ALL of your old PS2 games (the exie version of the PS3 is backward compatible with many PS2 games, but not all of them!). Personally, I'm gunna wait a little while longer before I drop a wad on a PS3 (see what other developements arise in the next 12 months, for it and for Blu-Ray etc. players), and because I have a large investment in my PS2 platform (steering wheel, special light-gun that works with plasmas/LCDs/projectors, guitar, Buzz controllers, an X-Arcade Dual stick) and I want to still play every PS2 game I have I'm gunna get another new PS2 to carry me through for a few more years yet (I currently have 2 fat PS2s - one with a 300GB HDD inside it). BF2142 is a faster paced game. Better unlock progression too. Bf2 is more tactical and feels more real though. I like them both. Re: XBox 360 for christmas 40Dec 02, 2007 11:59 am I'm thinking it is time to bite the bullet & get the kids a PS2 for christmas (PS3 is way too expensive for what my age kids need).
They are boys 8 & 5 and love to have a go when we go to friends places that have one. I don't have much idea about them, but from talking to a few people it sounds as though I would need to get the console a couple of controllers (is wireless the go?) and a memory card. How much would I expect to pay for a package like this? I would also need a couple of games - has anyone got suggestions for popular games for boys of this age?
