Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Oct 11, 2010 1:38 pm Ok, went to a few more places to compare projectors and lastly went into the big picture people. After talking to them, epson 4500 was no longer a thought. but we ended up going with the picture we liked as heater07 suggested. So for those projector know it alls... did we get a good deal or ripped of??? Mitsubishi HC4000 Projector Kabo projector mount 105" fixed flocked velour screen Topfield TF7200 HD set top box For....$3000. Appently has 5000hr lense and only cost $400 to replace it. That doesnt include hdmi cable either. I have done some shopping around on the internet and the cheapest I could get all this is $3561 so I suppose we have got a good deal. They said soince we are building, they can warehouse the stuff for us so that the warrenty doesnt start till it leaves the warehouse, and also if a newer model comes out in the mean time we get that instead. Great customer service. Also considering that the Mitsibishi lens last 5000hrs compared to epson 3000 and globes cost 1/2 the price as epson. But in the back of my mind I still think we should of got the epson 4500 or 3500 model because of all the feedback I've read. But all in all, we were really happy with the set up that was in the big picture people. Great clarity and colours. Your thoughts??? The reviews on the 4500 are really good and no one can really fault it. But the hc7000 is a fantastic unit, if only it was slightly brighter. BPP said the same thing about the epson but i wondered if they were saying that because they dont stock epson. I have narrowed my choice down to either the HC7000 or Epson 4500. Would have had it by now if the wife didnt book a holiday due to the Aus dollar. Re: Mitsubishi HC 4000 projector - Any thoughts? 8Oct 13, 2010 9:54 am As for lighting, we are painting our theatre room dark charcoal so no white at all and window will be blocked out with thick window coverings. As for sound.... still have to do our homework. We have a surround sound system to go in there but looking at using the speakers you mount in the wall all which will be wired prof. before plaster goes on our house. What is the HC 7000? will have to have a lookie. Nothing wrong with a holiday! Bali I say.lol Forrester 43sq We have our keys (3/6/11) Now it's time to decorate (that's the fun part.lol) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37598 Re: Mitsubishi HC 4000 projector - Any thoughts? 9Oct 17, 2010 4:17 pm Hi, I am in the same boat, but $3000 is not bad, because I just got quoted $3299 just for the Mitsubishi HC4000 from the BPP Knox, and you got all the other goodies for just $3000. I think it was a bargain! Some of my thoughts between the 4500 and HC4000 is the huge difference in contrast ratio 200,000:1 vs 3,600:1. The saleman also "sold" the HC4000 as a better option. Another consideration is that the HC4000 is a DLP while the Epson is a LCD. Preference I think is up to who you speak to...but I was impressed with the image quality of the HC4000 but I am still leaning towards the Epson, though slightly more expensive. Snistr, Which one did you end up picking?> Re: Mitsubishi HC 4000 projector - Any thoughts? 11Oct 18, 2010 9:59 am BPP are Mitsubishi 'Diamond Partners', which means they get preferential pricing from Mitsy. In my view that potentially makes them biased towards selling Mitsubishi over any other brand they stock to keep them looking good in Mitsubishi's eyes (by keeping up good sales numbers... ). Re: Mitsubishi HC 4000 projector - Any thoughts? 12Oct 18, 2010 10:25 am So what are your thoughts between the 2 units? Have we got a decent unit for price? I still regret not getting the epson only due to feedback. I dont have a clue how one is better than the other.
