Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Sep 29, 2010 9:21 pm We are looking to purchase a new tv and have been looking at the Panasonic and Samsung. We are not interested in 3D as my wife and I do not like the idea of having to wear the glasses and a couple of friends of ours have them and they think they are good but a bit of a gimmick, we would prefer to just buy a full HD plasma. We will sit about 3.7m from the screen in an open loungeroom so have been looking at a 58 inch (Thoughts please). Out of the tvs below what would you people recommend? We currently have a LCD but we watch a fair bit of sport and movies and I do spend a bit of time on the xbox. 58 Inch Panasonic VIErA TH-P58S20A 58" (147cm) Full-HD Digital Plasma TV Samsung Series 6 58inch (PS58C6500) Re: Which T.V??? 2Sep 30, 2010 12:35 am Hi KGJB, I've been going through this recently but I'm not ready to buy yet. The distance you're at will seem very close for that size tv but it fulfils all the criteria in the distance calculators. It will be a good immersive distance and you'll definitely see the difference in a full HD vs just HD. I'd thoroughly recommend going to your local JB hifi where they have both of these sets up and running. I definitely prefer the Samsung but viewing is such a personal thing that you really have to make your own choice. I'm also leaning towards some of the faster LCD's. The LED edge lit LCD's with the 200Hz Motion engines are getting very close to the plasma's for motion clarity and they throw more light out towards the viewer. I haven't noticed any judder in the Samsung but I did see it in the Panasonic LCD's. Seeing is believing and JB is the best playground for these things. Have Fun!! I'm really looking forward to Internet@TV. Plus, you'd probably get it cheaper as well. Did you end up buying either of them? If so, how much, if you don't mind telling the world? My local JB had a 15% off ticket price sale on TV's last weekend and I managed to get the 3D version of the Samsung you were looking at down to $2300 but decided against it since I won't need it for another few months. Yesterday we bought a Samsung 40C7000 (40" 7 Series 3D LED) from Myer for about $2006. They had a 15% off sale plus an offer including 2 x 3D glasses and a 3D Blue Ray player, plus the movie 'Mosters V's Aliens' on 3D Blue Ray disk. Also purchased their cable wall mount which sits the TV less than 20mm from the wall and will fit recessed powerpoint and aerial plugs behind the TV to keep it nice and flat. Still waiting for delivery. Wall mount. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6352 brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7575 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7272 |
