It's me again!
Regarding my floorplan:

The red spots are my "AV" locations. The dots will have basic AV connectivity (2x RJ45's 1x RG6 - as advised in my other thread, many thanks everyone!). The red lines - theatre and the lounge - will be a bit more advanced (How advanced, I haven't decided yet!)
The light blue squares are possible patch panel locations. Originally, I had planned the data/network/phone patch panel would be at #4, and the AV patch panel would be at #2. However with the recommendations that audio/video signals be sent over cat5e/cat6, it makes more sense to combine the two, since it allows for versatility.
So the question now is - where is best?
#1 - storage/multipurpose room - having a patch panel in here would limit the possibility for it to be used as a bedroom in the future.
#2/#3 - still my preferred option - but all that gear will make a bit of noise and required a bit of ventilation, which isn't ideal for a theatre room.
#4 - may be a bit inconvenient - but noise and cooling won't be a problem (I expect the garage will be colder than the rest of the house).
I'm going to discuss with the architect about the feasibility of removing the wall between 1/2 or between 3/4 - so the cabinet could be accessible from both sides. Might make things a bit easier!
Over to the experts
[Edit: the dark blue squares are just to give an idea of what is about each patch panel location - may be relevant for running cables! Also note the house will have plenty of other outlets intended for data/network which aren't marked on this map]
