Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Aug 29, 2010 5:58 pm Hi all, long Time reader First time posting. My Partner and I are getting ready to Build a New home. (First time Builders here) My first Question is should I do pre-wiring for a 7.2 or 9.2 speaker system? The room size is 4 meters wide and 5.65 meters long. Ceiling height is 2.80 & 2.95m. Reason for two different height's is the HT has 2 levels. First level is 1.5m long then the floor drops 15cm for the second level which is 4.15m long. Second question: After doing some research, on the net I bel 130inch Scope screen would suit the HT room, Is that correct? I would have the frist row of seats touching the back wall and the second row about 4m away from the screen. The second Row would only be used for Guests so I'm not to worried if they get a cramped neck looking at the screen. Thanks in advance for the help. Re: HT Room Speaker/Screen Questions. 3Aug 30, 2010 5:46 pm hi... i would definitely pre-wire the HT room during your build and not leave it till all is done to wire your HT room. asthetically, a HT room looks much better with hidden cables instead of one where cables are seen ****** across the room. since your HT room is quite a standard rectangular-shaped room, you would have already have an idea of where your speakers are going to be. So there;s no issue in pre-wiring them. Choosing your equipment can be a progressive decision since they use the same cables/wires. the only concern i could think of is wiring for the projector cause you may still be thinking where to place the projector. my few cents worth.. Re: HT Room Speaker/Screen Questions. 4Aug 30, 2010 5:58 pm pre wire for 7.2 9.2 is over kill.... depending on your builder they may or may not let you on site.. to instal the cables if the latter, if you have contact with your sparkie.. slip him the cable and a carton of his favourite beer/ coulpe of bottles of his favourite spirit for him to install it... Yes I have verbal permission from the builder to do my own speaker wire and Data cabling. (Data cabling will be getting signed off by a Licence Sparkie) For the projector I know where they will be going in the middle of the back wall, probably about 40 cm away from it, so I'm looking at a JVC 950 Projector?? I just need to know if its worth pre wiring for 9.2 or stay with 7.2, currently I have a 7.1 setup at our home in a smaller room than the one I planing on Building in the new house.? As for the screen size is 130inch scope screen about right or should I go bigger or smaller?> Thanks again. Re: HT Room Speaker/Screen Questions. 7Sep 01, 2010 11:59 am Hi guys. Been a busy couple of days... (even doing an install until 8:00pm on Saturday...). For a room that size - what I'd call modest (ie not large, but not small - good size), I'd recommend 7.1 at the most. Firstly, the room isn't big enough to warrant having 2 subwoofers - just get 1 decent one. Secondly, even today's HD audio formats are still mostly only using 5.1 channels, and the 6 and 7 speakers (don't get me wrong, when I finally get to build my next Cinema it will be 7.1) are only filling in the gap between the left and right surround channels so in a small to moderate room (especially width-wise) they won't be adding an awful lot. So perhaps wire 7.1, and even then you can decide later if you actually want 4 surround speakers... Re: HT Room Speaker/Screen Questions. 9Sep 06, 2010 10:43 am Personally I'm not a fan of Cinema Scope screens, not yet anyway... As far as the size goes, I think 130" might be pushing it a little - I certainly wouldn't go any bigger than that myself. You have no photo with your post.
