Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jun 22, 2010 2:00 pm Hi all, Im building a new home and currently getting electrical wiring as well as other cabling put in the house. I am not sure if I can take advantage of running speaker cabling in the walls to hide the cables in my living room as it is a 'open' area. I have attached a sketch image of my living room layout in which I have indicated the rough furniture lay out and the possible speaker locations (pink) (speakers will be on stands and not wall or ceiling mounted). Re: Audio cabling recommendation for open living room 3Jul 09, 2010 12:49 pm Looks like a really similar lay out to mine and yeah, same problem as mine What's worse is that I missed my chance to put the speaker cable in before the plaster went up so I'll be painting the cables and running it against skirting I think. If you don't go the in ceiling speakers, speaker stands don't look too bad. If not behind the couch, you can wire speaker points to the corners of that open space area (the corner near that sliding door and on the opposite side) and then go either ceiling mounted from those points or cleverly disguised speakers. As I said I've got the same problem and I think I'm going to just suck it up with trying to find really cool looking speaker stands. Speaking of, you know of any Rodda?
