Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Apr 16, 2010 12:25 pm Hi There, I plan to install an in-wall speaker, however the location I want to put it in is right where a run of Cat6 network and Quad Shield RG6 A/V cable passes. If I put the speaker near the cables, am I going to introduce any interference to the cables? Or vice versa, am I going to get any interference from the cables into the speaker? I've been googling for the last hour or so, and can't find anything specific to answer my question. Hopefully some of the gurus here can help. Thanks heaps Gavin Re: Installing speaker near A/V and network cables 2Apr 16, 2010 2:48 pm if everything is working fine there shouldn't be a problem. Twisted cable on the cat 6 is done in order to reduce interference. Quad shield has good insulating properties. Dont stress run then where ever you want. Re: Installing speaker near A/V and network cables 3Apr 16, 2010 10:32 pm You will not have an issue. The speakers will not pick up any noticable noise, it is only when you have a low level audio signal (such as line inputs) that picks up some noise and then runs thru an amplifier amplifying the noise as well as your signal. And the audio wires do not radiate much from them, as the average frequency is a lot lower than the RadioFrequency noise that does cause problems. And yes, any cables that are prone to transmit or receive noise should have measures to reduce this such as shielding or twisting. The twisting ensures that no wire runs parralel with another for an extended length. So when running long runs try not to have cables running parralel with each other.
