Are there any real differences between a $40 cable and a $180 cable?
I'm looking at a 10 meter cable and dont want to lose quality due to a crappy cable, but nor do I want to be screwed either.
Thanks,

So was there a definitive answer to the 10m question? Is there a difference between the $40 and the $150 10m hdmi cables? $110! Hmmm i think parawolf is onto something Re: HDMI Cables 14Oct 26, 2010 2:01 pm There is defnitely some difference in quality - I've had bad experiences with really cheap HDMI cables (basically just not working) like the ones that sometimes get bundled with some gear (cheaper Blu-Ray players for example). As soon as I swapped the cable for a Selby one (P.S. Ugly=Selby) - which in my opinion are also still very affordable compared to big brands like Monster, the problem was fixed straight away with the Selby cable. A 10m HDMI cable for $30 is cheap cheap - I personally wouldn't trust it... Re: HDMI Cables 15Oct 26, 2010 4:03 pm I wouldn't buy an el-cheapo hdmi cable for a 10m run (1-2m run? No problems, buy the cheapest). But a Selby et al at that distance would be fine. Once you start getting 15-20m, yeah, you need something decent, but even that doesn't have to be expensive, about $150 for a 20m cable. Re: HDMI Cables 16Oct 29, 2010 1:14 pm Soon we won't have to be using HDMI cables, even for runs up to 30'. wireless HDMI is coming... http://hothardware.com/Reviews/WHDI-Kit ... -HDelight/ Re: HDMI Cables 17Oct 29, 2010 5:31 pm HDMI wall plates ... I'd suggest the cheap HDMI are not HDMI certified and are probably made in China or similar intellectual property/standards ignorant country. They may carry the term, but from China that doesn't mean much. |
