Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation Re: Home Theatre Room Colour Selection 8Jan 18, 2011 8:06 am For a projector, the ceiling colour effects the experience the most. Not only does it reflect more light back on the screen than the walls or floor but when the room is dark, having a huge glowing and flashing ceiling can be very distracting. You will find, even using black paint also reflects quite a bit , just because it's a flat surface. Two options which can solve the problem are. 1. If you are going to paint your ceiling any colour use a thick stipple/render paint. Because the finish is very rough it hardly reflects much light at all. The the light is difused and bounces off in many directions. This option can also make a nice feature. 2. This option requires a bit more dedication. My cinema room ceiling is covered in black velvet panels. This will reflect the least amount of light out of any option. It also helps if you have low ceilings. Because it's so dark, even with the room half lit up, you can't really make out the ceiling at all. It really opens up the room believe it or not. To add something to it I installed about 2000 fiber optic stars.
