Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Apr 03, 2010 6:53 pm Hi guys My house is almost at frame stage now and i am freaking out as i have not bought any cables yet. Selby acoustics are having an easter sale and i am hoping you guys will hep me find the right stuff. The finalized plans are as below Ground Floor Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Top Floor Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Basically this is what i plan to achieve 1. In ceiling speaker (for rears) set up for the family area downstairs. This is so that the speakers are not in the way of anything. I also want to be able to play the same output to the two outdoor speakers in the alfresco or have the option of playing something else there. I am thinking of hooking this up to an airport express so i can control the music wirelessly. 2. 5.1 Surround sound set up initially for the upstairs TV area but with option of going to 7.1 in the future. This will have a projector. The equipment will sit along the wall adjacent to the 2nd bathroom. 3. Wall mount LCD tv in the master bedroom with the provision of connecting a foxtel iq box only. I was looking at the buying the following items 1. TV mount - http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storef ... =208032056 2. Speaker wiring - http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storef ... =243654039 for the alfresco and 7.1 setup speakers 3. Wall plates - http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storef ... =250591704 or http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storef ... =250591725 4. HDMI wall plates - http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storef ... =235954803 Can some one please advise me if i am on the right track here before i pull the trigger. Many thanks Re: Help with Home Theatre Setup 3Apr 04, 2010 10:52 pm Hey man, do you think we wait here until someone jumps on begging for quick advice. You need speaker cable and HDMI cable(s), and they need to be more than long enough to go from where your amp/AV Receiver and sources (DVD Player, etc.) will be to where the speakers and projector will be. You also need to think about power for every location where a powered device will be (including the projector and potentially a subwoofer), and don't forget about TV antenna points and the like... For coax (I'm assuming RF - ie. TV antenna runs) you only use one type: RG6 Quad shield. We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
