I envisage using it to do our regular TV watching, particularly in the evenings. We'll have another TV somewhere central if you want to watch TV elsewhere. I've seen a few ideas - the cabinet where the TV raises up with the push of the button. But the one I like best is the TV mirror : http://www.dinendi.com/mirror-tv-kit/ Not sure how much they'd be here in Oz though. Re: How many movies per week 8Aug 29, 2007 10:17 am I'm with you Vandelay... more of the former rather that the latter
Probably due to the fact that there's hardy any decent movies on during the week & you might get a good one on the w/end... if you're lucky. Cheers, Mike. My Blog... http://ahouseonthehill.blogspot.com/ Re: How many movies per week 9Aug 29, 2007 10:31 am Like this Law?

We have swapped the formal lounge for an entertainment room for the children. Sick and tired of one child wanting to play playstation, one wanting to watch a kids video/dvd, husband wants to watch the car racing and me watch a movie. Hmmmm running out of rooms here....The solution is to have heaps of TV's in the house. We already had a large rear projection widescreen panasonic tv which we will hand over to use in the kids area...Playstation looks great on the big screen too.
We are hoping to have a 50" Plasma in the family/meals/kitchen area to keep a minimalist look on the wall and then have a projection system in the theatre room. Still one short for one of us, but the kids will have to share for the moment. Already have the surround system, but might get some speakers to put into the alfresco ceiling. We currently have a Yamaha amp/reciever/tuner, yamaha sub woofer and front speaker, B&W frnt tower speakers and Jamo rear satelites. Works well, but would love to turn it up and "FEEL" the sound go through you. Not often though does that happen. "Turn it down mum !!!!!" Hey Matt, do you recommend pre-wiring in a single story home or can you wait until after handover? Might give you a buzz to have a chat...... Seems a waste to have to buy a projection system and a large screen TV> Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: How many movies per week 15Aug 29, 2007 1:23 pm I have no issues with using the large screen ongoing. We already have the widescreen rear projection tv, but need more to cater for all "tastes" in our family. I am sick of the fights over the remote control. We also had 2 Foxtel units, but there were still arguments over who watches what and when on the 2 tv's that had access.
So the more the merrier is our attitude. Again, need to build the house first, but we know that we want piece and quiet in the new place. Too many tastes to cater for on one big screen. As my 3 y.o. hands me a car racing dvd to watch as i type.... he's been brain-washed by the hubby!!!!!!!!!!!!! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: How many movies per week 18Aug 29, 2007 1:56 pm Hi Phoenix.
Pre-wiring during the building of a house (before plaster) is always easier than doing it after it's finished - easier = cheaper (usually). There are some cable runs that are still quite easy to do after a house is finished (certainly in the case of a single storey place) and there are some that are much harder. Your sound system appears to be pretty good - Yamaha, B&W, Jamo - good quality brands. As far as watching all of your TV on your front projection system goes - you can definitely do it, but you must be aware of the life of the projector's lamp (usually 2000 to 3000 hours). At approx. $500 to $800 a throw you might not want to replace one every six to twelve months. Re: How many movies per week 19Aug 29, 2007 2:12 pm Yeh, Nemo's not intersting anymore i suppose, he's outgrown The Wiggles too, not into Hi-5, but the weather is getting better now so playtime in the park is looking good.
