Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Aug 24, 2007 1:18 pm I am considering mounting my 32" LCD on the wall of our new home, but my wife is worried about all the associated cables from the STB, DVD etc..
I have seen wall plates that you can buy that allow easy connection without all the cords hanging out.. (see pic below) How hard is it to install a wall plate, and what is the easiest way to do it?? Are there any alternatives to wall plates?? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Home Theatre wiring & wall plates 2Aug 24, 2007 1:31 pm Hi Mike.
How funny, I picked up one of those exact wallplates (Neotech NWP108) last night for an install we have next week. Installing the wallplate is easy, it's running the cables from behind the TV on the wall (often through some sort of hole behind the TV), through the inside of the wall to eventually make their way over to where the wallplate is going to go that offers the biggest challenge. Depending on where the two are, you might have to negotiate your way through noggins as well as through either the top or bottom plate (just a horizontal pine stud really) of the wall itself. You need to think about what's inside your wall and where. Get a stud finder. See a house being built before the plaster/gyprock goes in. Re: Home Theatre wiring & wall plates 3Aug 24, 2007 1:55 pm I think my main problem is going to be that the model of TV I have - the inputs are actually on the sides of the unit, not the back.. They do however have 'cover plates' that go over them to hide the cables, then come out the bottom..
I saw these wall plates on Ebay and thought they would do the trick - I am constantly plugging and unplugging things (vid cameras/laptop etc) into the TV and this looked like a fairly good solution to that.. And Rodda - you are spot on with the model of wall plate too - you know your gear Thanks for the advice Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that.
