Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Aug 23, 2007 9:04 pm Does anyone know much about LED projectors? I'm thinking about one of these because of the 10,000 hour bulb. Re: LED Projectors? 2Aug 24, 2007 9:00 am Hi mate.
Those projectors are great as a little portable office projector, but not for a home theatre. They are nowhere near bright enough to power even the smaller HT screens, nor do they stack up in the areas of picture that are really important to HT viewing like contrast. Go DLP ![]() ![]() Re: LED Projectors? 4Aug 24, 2007 10:02 am Rodda,
Can you recommend a souce of cheap replacement projector bulbs. ie. mine costs around $800 to replace. Considering it is just a bulb, just think there must be a source of cheap replacement (made in China perhaps?). It is an LG projector, don't have model details on me. Re: LED Projectors? 5Aug 24, 2007 11:05 am Casa, hi dude.
The BenQ W10000 has a RRP of $7999 currently. We can do them for $5900 delivered to greater Melbourne area (or perhaps a little further out in the outer South East) - Brand New in box directly from BenQ Australia, with full manufacturer's warranty of course. And, if ordered before the end of this month we can include a free spare extra lamp! Re: LED Projectors? 6Aug 24, 2007 11:14 am Hi 3xB.
Unfortunately an alternate cheap source for projector lamps may not actually be available. Most of these projectors use a lamp that is reasonably unique to that model, whether the projector was designed around (among other things of course) the lamp or the lamp was developed for the projector itself. We have trade price lists on many different lamps for projectors from the likes of BenQ, Panasonic, Optoma, NEC, Mitsubishi, Epson and Hitachi (therefore dozens and dozens of different specific lamps), but I'm sorry to say we don't deal with LG. It got me into the home theatre scene at a time I could not afford a major purchase, and wrks really really well. I have had friends come over that have had "decent brand' names and were surprised at the quality of the image. Never seen an LG imahge though. Just my thoughts..... and theirs. ![]() Adrian B Re: LED Projectors? 10Aug 24, 2007 1:09 pm 3xB. Sorry mate, but anyone who honestly thinks LG make better projectors than BenQ obviously does not really know very much about these products at all.
Check the various reviews at sites like ProjectorReviews.com, ProjectorCentral.com, AVRev.com and UltimateAVMag.com and anyone who can read will discover that BenQ make projectors that are highly regarded throughout the AV world. Re: LED Projectors? 11Sep 22, 2007 12:47 pm soooo....
does that mean that I should not bother looking at LG plasma/LCD? Put it another way are LG rated well when it comes to plasmas/lcd's? Unfortunaltey my personal experiance with BenQ has been very dissapointing (dvd recorder & dvd player). Wont buy anything from them again. Do you stock globes for Sharp projectors? I have '03-04 DLP projector that I should start to look at replacing the globe of. Cheers Re: LED Projectors? 12Sep 22, 2007 7:52 pm Hi Timbo.
BenQ projectors are nothing short of excellent. If you get a chance to see one in the right environment it will blow your socks off. Even their support (1 issue with 1 unit - 1 issue resolved - 1 customer very happy with the experience). As far as electronics (amps, DVD players, etc.) go, I don't have any experience with the BenQ range. That said, I probably wouldn't recommend them, but that's probably mostly due to the fact that our taste is a little above the likes of that - we LOVE Marantz stuff. LG - OK if you wanna save a (little) bit of money. In my opinion, if you are currently looking for a Plasma or LCD TV - look no further than Samsung. Their panels are awesome (I personally couldn't bring myself to get a plasma, until I saw the range put out by Samsung 12 months ago. That completely changed my thoughts on them). Sharp globes...... ask me again in a couple of days, when I'm in a better position to look into it (sorry mate, been on an install all day and I'm feeling rather stuffed at the moment..... We have access to Sharp projectors - can't remember at the mo' if we get price lists for their globes. Finally something with good contrast, decent image processing (the bane of most plasma and LCD's IMHO), and broadcast reference colour reproduction. Its also 30% brighter than any other plasma on the market. Re: LED Projectors? 15Sep 25, 2007 10:58 pm I too have heard that Pioneer are the best on the market? Rod/Matt, how do you rate their range? Say 42" and larger
Hoping to get one when we move in......plus Pioneer deliver , install & set it up for you i've heard too! I'll add it too my list for Santa. Need a damn big stocking though.... ![]() Re: LED Projectors? 18Sep 26, 2007 11:09 am ![]() Pioneer pro models come with an in home calibration which goes by far and away beyond a 'setup' What does the calibration include??
