Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Mar 05, 2010 8:53 am I've been hunting around for lots of little bits of late, short cables, wall plates that sort of stuff. And it seems that everything in Melbourne is about twice the price I can buy it for in Sydney. In most cases if I'm buying more than one item its cheaper to purchase it from Sydney, pay for next day delivery and it still cheaper! I know someone will bang on about you get what you pay for but when half the stuff is Clipsal its apples and apples. The sorts places that I've been buying gear from is 4cabling.com.au (no I dont have any affiliation with them) , but they are in NSW so not so great on the getting help if I'm not sure what I need, does anyone have a favorite 'cheap' Melbourne supplier. They're in Hallam but have an online shop They sell cable and wall plates, not sure about clipsal though Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Re: Recommend Melbourne/Vic store for bits and bobs? 3Mar 05, 2010 9:32 am Yeah I've looked on their site, and one product I was looking at was $5 interstate and $13.95 locally, maybe they price match. Selby's prices were good for the larger products, so I know where to shop when I get to that part of the project. Same, bought heaps of cables, wallplates, HDMIs, toslinks, components etc. Shipping was about $100USD for a massive box (arrived here in 4 days), but even with that included it was still heaps cheaper than anything locally. Also used monoprice about 3 years ago when wiring up my last house and all the components are great. T&T Looks like all my cables. I feel like such a geek again but I love it! I just ordered my IR setup from www.a1components.com today. Cost less than $250AUD all up for the whole setup. I've had quotes as high as $1,000 here in Australia. I also ordered from Monoprice the recessed wall plates with power and section for the cables to go through (like what you have), I ordered some of them too where I didn't need the power to be recessed. My dads a sparky and I found in the Clipsal parts catalogue the change over power point for this unit which is for Aussie power connections. I think the total cost per unit was less than $30. P.S I love the USA for bits and pieces.
