Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Mar 04, 2010 11:05 pm Sorry, but I have been out of the industry for a little while and can't remember the legalities behind it all. I hold a current ticket that has not expired and I am registered with BICSI cablers. Now I know that I am able to my own Networking cabling in my house and plan to run cat 6 everywhere, however does the job actually have to be signed off by a "company" with an ABN etc, Or can I just do the job? What about speaker cables? And what is the issue with Cat6? Mains and anything connected to mains you understand, speaker wire is also okay. I think the rule is any permanently installed cable with the potential to be connected to the communications system (telstra copper) must be installed by a qualified technician. So Cat5/6 ****** on the floor is ok. Cat5/6 through a wall is not. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget.
