Are there any amps that will do a better job with the inputs/outputs, as in take component in and push out HDMI so that I dont have to swap the input source on the projector to watch different stuff? I just get the feeling that there is going to be a lot of source swapping on both the projector and the amp, I think it'll get tedious... is there a better way? Re: Can someone help me work out how to wire this stuff up 2Feb 09, 2010 9:41 pm I'm not familiar with that AVR, but if it has a decent feature set, it should pass through/upscale/upconvert all the sources through the HDMI. And get a HDMI video card on the HTPC, then you dont have to worry about dealing with the VGA cable and RCA's either... Re: Can someone help me work out how to wire this stuff up 3Feb 10, 2010 7:58 am Hi G man. Your pictured setup looks fine and makes sense - this would work even if your AVR can only switch video sources and doesn't do any up-conversion of video signal. If your AVR does do video up-conversion then you may be able to get away with less cabling up to the projector (eg. if it can convert all lesser video signals up to HDMI then you will only need to run 1 HDMI cable up to the projector), and as stated by Mattf20c, if you were to get a video card for the HTPC that allows you to run HDMI out of it (DVI will suffice, like mine - just get a DVI - HDMI adaptor) then you can connect it to the AVR as well instead of going straight to the projector... Re: Can someone help me work out how to wire this stuff up 4Feb 10, 2010 8:27 am Thanks guys, I'll have to do some digging to see if it will do any conversions of input sources.. man all HDMI out would be the bomb, no input switching. and VGA/DVI *smacks head* why didn't I think of that already!?! Excellent thanks guys. Re: Can someone help me work out how to wire this stuff up 5Feb 10, 2010 9:12 pm So along the lines of having the amp doing the conversion to HDMI from component and rca, can anyone recommend an amp that does do this? Though I have yet to use it, as my house isn't finished yet... Do you know for fact that the HK one you pictured doesn't? (do you already own that one). There are many that do this video up-conversion - any Marantz model from the SR-5004 up will do it.
