Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Dec 21, 2009 7:24 pm Hi there have been going through the posts and trying to put all the topics that are similar to my situation and blending them together. My requirements are not unlike the other posters. I want a surround system in my theatre, 4 sets of speakers through the house, am happy to have two zones with two speakers to each one or is I can split the signal through a box that I have seen on audio sites that can control up to 6 different zones, however I imagine the quality goes down. I also want to future the house with internet to most rooms and connect the computer to the theatre to stream video from the computer. I have about 600m of Cat6 cable from a friend so I want to utilise this for as much as I can, I want to run dedicated speaker cable (after a recommended size) to the speakes throughout the house the longest run would be 10 m. In regards to the Cat6 what can it be used for, since I have so much of it if it can be used for telephone / internet / foxtel etc that would be great!! Any tips would be appreciated. We are looking at spending about 3000 or so ona good receiver such as the Yamaha 3900 I think that has a couple of extra zones that would suit our needs. Plus any recommendations for ceiling speakers would also be appreaciated!!!!! Thanks hunts Re: Cabling a new house 2Dec 22, 2009 10:59 am hunts01 Any tips would be appreciated. hunts Your floor plan would be good info for a start. Having cat5 in my house I would say splurge and get double or even triple runs to major points like computer rooms and living rooms etc. Nothing more annoying than having to put another switch (and the power costs) just because you now have 2 or 3 appliances that use internet at one spot. Re: Cabling a new house 3Dec 22, 2009 11:31 am the Cat6 can only be used for DATA / phones (with out pricey adaptors) .. you will still need RG6 quad shield for the TV/ foxtel. the physical cabling work still needs to be done by cabler... but if you supply some of the cable that will lower the price some what. also as posted above house plan would be good Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Cabling a new house 5Dec 23, 2009 8:56 am still missing some of the plan......
