Kinda like looking down a road on a hot day and noticing the road looks wonky. If you can try move it to anywhere, where it won't be directly in front of the projector. I'm not entirely certain - but I'd suspect no visible distortion from the approx 25degC air temperature "heat" coming from an a/c vent... especially when it is pumped into a room that has an air temperature that is almost identical. Commonly observed distortion seems to come from very hot surfaces - road surface, car body - which would be heating air to about 40-50degC in the immediate vicinity close to the surface before it gets dissipated into the rest of the air space (at about 20degC difference). The difference in air temps is what causes the distortion due to the difference in density of the hotter air (less dense) refracting light at a different angle. In summary ... I think it would not be a problem. Now that I think about it, my TV (mounted high-ish up on a wall) is directly behind (line of sight) an a/c vent and I have never noticed a problem. Interesting, I stand corrected. Cheers for that info. That's useful to me too After a quick google, the main concern is the vent blowing heat directly onto the projector which would obviously have issues of overheating. ---------------------------------------- Building the PD Lisbon 24 http://www.porterdavis.com.au/#homeviewer/lisbon/24 Blog of our progress. http://lisbon24.blogspot.com/ Homeone build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28665 0 2020 retail its around double the price of a similar sized actron/dakin system from memory, They are excellent systems though.
