Our room is 5 mtrs wide from where we will be sitting, to the location of the LCD TV. We have the opportunity of buying a 46" SONY BRAVIA KDL46W5500 for $2,200, which seems to be a great price.
Is that size too big for our room?
TIA.

I sit about 4m back from a 50" plasma these days and even that is clearly (to me) not too big. Re: Ideal distance from which to view 46" LCD TV 5Oct 29, 2009 10:05 am Pugs nope i have a 42" sammy plasma and we are about that far back shuld be good esp for HD stuff and full 1080P movies.. If you're sitting more than 2.5 metres back from your 42" then 1080 or 720 will make not a whit of difference. For a 46" anything further than about 3 metres back you won't be able to tell the difference. In fact, for realistic seating positions 50" is about the minimum screen size where 1080 becomes relevant. Something that conveniently fails to get mentioned when "full hd" 26 inch sets are being flogged at premium prices. So, if you're not going to be sitting more than those distances from your TV consider buying a non-1080 set and pocketing the saving, or deciding if the set in question has features that you can't live without that a 'lesser' set misses out on (resolution is not one of them). Re: Ideal distance from which to view 46" LCD TV 6Oct 29, 2009 5:32 pm Should be just right. We have a 42" in our current loungeroom which is 4m wide. But we will be buying at least a 50" for the new house!! Found the answer. The recommended distance is .... 1 5975 Black on light wood does look good.
