We are building a house and have a small theatre room, 4.2 x 4.5 with 9ft cealings. Where should i place my speakers? sub at the front or rear? also rear speakers on the rear wall or the rear of the side walls? and how high up?

Re: 5.1 Speaker Placement 2Oct 04, 2009 12:00 am Hi there. I'm sure there are going to be a bazillion people respond to this posting but it might help if we knew what system you have. If you have a good subby, and I do mean a good subby, it shouldn't matter where you place it as it's projection should not be noticed from anywhere in the room. Depending on the quality of your rears, they should ideally be located a meter to rear and 2 meters high, but again it's dependant on the type of system you have. Then there is all the furniture in your room which will have an affect as well and has to be considered. With a room this size you might have to tow in your mains to find the sweet spot first and work everything out from there. A good amp should be able to adjust the rears and subby once you've found the ideal sweet spot. There are various forums dedicated to this subject but I hope it gives you some idea.
