Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jun 16, 2007 5:34 pm Hey all,
I have been looking for some time now for the ideal home theatre seats for my new cinema! Up until last week I had been going to have 5 or 6 individual electric recliners until today. I found these: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (Obviously a different colour and material) Very happy!!! 6 chairs delivered for under $2300 (I had budgeted $3000 for the recliners) and they are happy to store them until November for free for us! The have lots of other style too in 2, 3 and 4 seater configurations: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 3 seater in this style (^) in leather is $1099 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ PM me if you want the name of these guys! They are in Dandenong, Hoppers Crossing and Preston.... A find worth sharing I thought. Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 2Jun 16, 2007 8:32 pm That's cheap!!
Might have to look into these at a later date. That's only a slight curve on them isn't it? I'm thinking about my raised floor area and whether the curve means it has to be deeper to accommodate. Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 3Jun 16, 2007 9:46 pm Parker,
Its deceiving, but there is no curve... They are 2.85m wide (for the one i bought) and standard recliner depth... Worth checking out IMO... Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 4Jun 17, 2007 9:11 am Excellent. And is this pricing a one - off, or can I wait till next year, you reckon? Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 5Jun 17, 2007 12:37 pm I seems to be a saving of a few hundred dollars off retail but I have no doubt that you will get close next year!! Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 6Jun 17, 2007 2:53 pm Hmmm, my comments may not be welcome but what the heck...........
They strike me as just like my earlier comments about home theatre set-ups....all quantity but little quality! That is, the furniture is designed for its function and style, but the quality will be skin deep at best. A few general comments about upholstered furniture; The foundation of quality upholstery is the frame. Hardwood is best. These will probably be cheap chipboard. Quality springing and cushion support systems cost and last. Quality foams cost and last. There is a heap of cheap imported leather on the market. A lot is from china. Often split leather or even imitation leather is used in some parts of lounges. Leather is grossly over-rated as an upholstery covering anyway! Recently, I bought some new lounges. Had them locally made. Jarrah frames, top quality construction with premium suspension system and foams., (and warranties to match). Chose a Warwick velveteen fabric with rouching and cord detail. It cost $6500 for one 2.5 seater and one 3.5 seater. We could have spent less but we got what we wanted, and it will last. If you want a home theatre set-up and the multi-seat units appeal to you, fine. Guess you get what you pay for. If you want quality units though, prepare to pay top $$$. I'd suggest looking at what Moran have to offer. They make good quality furniture. I have two action recliners from Moran in leather. They are 16 years old, and in good condition after lots of use. Ash. Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 7Jun 17, 2007 3:06 pm As a point of reference, I'd suggest that this range would be representative of good quality home theatre seating options....
http://www.morancomfort.com.au/pages/ar ... andlerId=1 I have no idea what their prices are. But consider..... if they look similar and others are half price or less, what are you getting for your money? What are the service warranty terms of each. Caveat Emptor! Ash. Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 8Jun 17, 2007 4:05 pm Frames made from imported hardwood
Dunlop enduro foam with 10m year warranty 10 year warranty on mechanisms.... Fabric will be a micro suede with a fabric protector on it. This shape can be bought for as little $700 for a 3 seater in some shops (Furniture Galore) but are of a questionable quality. These are a good compromise at around $1200 each on sale. I think these are a good compromise to the Moran option at $4000 for a 3 seater. I am sure the Moran is a good lounge suite, but most people would not part with $8000 for 6 seats! IMO Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 9Jun 17, 2007 4:42 pm OK Matt,
You have done some homework and have a fair idea what you're buying, and I'm NOT trying to suggest there's anything wrong with your choice. I'm trying to bring awareness to those that just have an idea what they want and go about getting it as cheaply as possible, without due attention to what they are buying (especially what's beneath the surface). And sure, we can buy bargains at certain times of the year with sales on, and the bargain price doesn't necessarily mean its of poor quality. Cheers! Ash. Re: Home theatre recliners - Sale time!! 11Jun 22, 2007 8:26 am Yes yes yes Matt! That's exactly what I'd like to get for our Home Theatre (once we build a damn house!).
A great use of space I think. Cheers Perry Took me a while - but I finally found the HT forum. You guys are in trouble now!) So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27693 9 24789 1 13122 |
