I have a theatre which will be 6100 long, originally we planned to have 2 rows of seating on 200mm risers and a front stage of approx 1m (200 high). How much width should i allow for recliners?. With 6.1 m length will it look too crowded with stage and 2 levels of seats or do i go with 1 level and no stage. Appreciate your comments. Re: Whats the width of your riser?? I vote for no stage (don't see the benefits in one), one level but still two rows of seating. That's probably the most flexible arrangement for an in-house setup. If the room ever needs to be converted (say to a bedroom or lounge-room or home gym or whatever) - the owner only needs to remove the one level change. Re: Whats the width of your riser?? (seriously) 5Sep 18, 2009 2:29 pm I woouldn't have thought the room sounds long enough to have a stage and two levels of seating. I would also go for the two rows of seating on one level. Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: Whats the width of your riser?? (seriously) 6Sep 18, 2009 3:46 pm If you're going to have 2 rows of seating on the same level unless the screen is abnormally high you really need to stagger the seats so the people in the back row aren't seated directly behind those in the front (and space them out a fair bit...), otherwise the front heads will be in the way. I've been in a 7m room with 2 rows, where the back row is 200mm higher than the front one (and back a fair distance from the front one) and the owner still wishes he'd made the 'stage' a little higher as his back row still gets bits of the front heads in the way... A 6m room is long enough for 2 rows - even if the 2 rows were 1.8m apart (which is quite generous for a HT) you still get nearly 4m distance for the front row. Re: Whats the width of your riser?? (seriously) 7Sep 21, 2009 10:51 am thanks for replys..image is her hopefully? http://img12.imageshack.us/i/img92109350001.pdf/ Rodda from experience is 200 high enough between seats? Front stage idea is for aesthetics and to raise the speakers to seating level.. room is now 6200 x 4040 and components will be housed in spave to front right of screen. Re: Whats the width of your riser?? (seriously) 10Sep 24, 2009 3:29 pm rommel00 It depends on how high the screen will be, and indirectly depends on how high the ceiling is. If I said it was not high enough and it really should be at least 250mm (if not 300mm) high, would you make it higher? Re: Whats the width of your riser?? (seriously) 11Sep 25, 2009 12:22 pm gday rod, Working with a blank canvas and looking for best results. Room will be quite contemorary and my intention was to centralize the screen, ceiling is 2700.
