I happened to visit one of only a couple of loudspeaker displays at the last home show and wanted to know if anyone has, or heard of how reliable these Osborn speakers are, or is it just a lot of hype? They are true audiophile speakers with size and price to match (but I absolutely love them). Thanks Rodda. You'll be glad to know I took some of your earlier advice and put a bit more of my budget into the sound rather than the projector. Don't get me wrong I did buy a TW4000 and 105 screen but have bought the Denon AVR4308, Osborn Eclipse mains, Osborn C3 center, Osborn F4's for rear effects and 16" Osborne sub-woofer. I'm hoping to blow womens clothes off if they stand in front of them...lol Oh and hopefully feel one with the movie too. P.S. Gotta love the THX intro to make a speaker work it's magic.. I'm hoping I read that last part wrong By the way, that's a mighty big ... sub you've got there. I pity your poor neighbours Re: Osborn Loudspeakers 5Sep 16, 2009 9:49 am Gremlin I'm hoping to blow womens clothes off if they stand in front of them...lol Don't be too concerned guys It's a gag from the recent remake of The Italian Job. I will always love and still may yet get myself a pair of the Osborn Epitomes with the optional bass units For those of you longer serving members who may remember my previous avatar (where I looked a little youger ) what you couldn't see just out of shot was the Osborn Epitome I was standing next to... Nice to see you picked up on 'The Italian Job' quote Rodda. Should have known not everyone would have seen the movie. Epitome with bass speakers, now there is a combo even I thought about Rodda, but at $10K even I had to say no. Even the Eclipse speakers pushed my budget but when you hear the soundstage they produce I just had to have them. To her credit all my partner said was "They sound really good, but I want that particular finish on them", refering to the Bubinga gloss. I haven't looked into the pricing of Osborn stuff for some time now, but when I was eyeing off the Epitomes they were about $6K-$6.5 for the package (2 Epitome towers + 2 bass units) - and the pair I saw at the Melbourne HiFi show (about 8 years ago) were going for a bit less than that too... Re: Osborn Loudspeakers 8Sep 17, 2009 10:34 pm Oh yeah, they've gone up just a smidge. The Mk7's with bass unit are now $9400 retail, although I think at the show they were down to $7500 if not, damn close to it. Mind you had you bought at the show you would have received a further 12.5% discount bringing them to $6562. In fact the more I think about, the more affordable they are becoming...... for you that is....lol Eptimones aside, I can't wait to connect my system together but I have to wait for them to be made first and then....... then I have to wait for my new house to be finished. As I'm moving in with my son and his 3 dogs, together with my one, I don't dare let any of this equipment within a tail wag until it's in it's new HT room where it will be safe and sound where I can hug them and pat them and call them my own... Oh and watch really cool movies too.....lol PD Hayman 34 H1 Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=29460&start=0 Blog http://miazfolly.blogspot.com Tiles 25/3/09 Colors 6/4/09 Tender 7/5/09 Contract 28/5/09 Land 16/11/09 Re: Osborn Loudspeakers 10Sep 17, 2009 11:41 pm JilaMint With that Denon beast driving those babies, I could just open my back door over here in Adelaide and join the party. Funny you should say that JilaMint, my one and only window is facing towards Adelaide so I'll let you know when a strong easterly is blowing your direction..lol I've gone this route to have a decent punch when at lower volume levels.... 'and' .... since I am a shift worker, mid-day movies in a totally dark room with the volume up just a 'little', I won't have to worry about neighbours wanting to sleep. Unless they are night-shift workers..lol PD Hayman 34 H1 Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=29460&start=0 Blog http://miazfolly.blogspot.com Tiles 25/3/09 Colors 6/4/09 Tender 7/5/09 Contract 28/5/09 Land 16/11/09 |
