Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Sep 14, 2009 6:14 pm Can anyone recommend a reasonable UPS for basic home use ? I'm a bit confused by the huge variety in types (and prices) of UPSs out there. It would only need about 4-6 power points (switch, modem/router, file server, external hard-drive, ... spares?) and a data point (rj11 ?) to run back into my modem. Just about 20mins of backup to take care of short outages and let me back-up data or power-down cleanly as required. I've seen some well priced Belkin UPSs. Something around the $200 mark would be good - but will happily spend a little more if I can be convinced of the merits. Are people using UPSs for home network or home office stuff? Re: Please recommend me a UPS. 2Sep 14, 2009 6:52 pm Check out APC and Eaton - generally better quality than the Belkin equivalents - and those companies specialise in UPS and power protection. I use the APC BE700-AZ (google it) for my desktop, and normally an APC SUA1000I for my home theatre equipment (except the damn thing has a dead battery, argh!). I also use an Eaton Powerware 3115 for my secondary PC, but this is due for retirement soon. 700VA should be ample for a PC and some accessories. Good Luck! I'm using an RS800. http://www.ht.com.au/part/M0739-APC-Bac ... detail.hts Do the hard jobs first.
