Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation Re: Room orientation 21Jun 09, 2007 7:56 pm Casa,
The front will be more minimalist again than that: A single 120" (maybe 140") fixed frame screen and 3 speakers.... thats it! I still use punch occassionally but you cant get past MVH for speed and agility. The chairs are not finalised as yet but the width of 4metres doesn't leave a lot of flexibility. The picture of the 3 different perspective was based on a much smaller chair that the bigger recliners here... We will have to wait and see. Questions will always be answered! ask away! Re: Room orientation 22Jun 20, 2007 12:06 pm I've just been told by our draftsman that you cant have less than 2.4m of ceiling height anywhere, so my floor can only be 150mm high. Re: Room orientation 23Jun 20, 2007 12:26 pm parker,
A suggestion for you. Build the house without any raised floor. After completion, add a raised floor section. Costs a bit extra, but you don't have to worry about the 2.4 m limit (if it is real). Also means that if later you want to reassign the room, to say, a dining, lounge or bedroom, you can revert it to a room without a raised floor section. Cheers, Casa Re: Room orientation 24Jun 20, 2007 12:30 pm Matt,
Wouldn't it be better to have the doors away from the screen? Just thinking that people (aka kids) comming in and out would really irritate after a while. If they are comming in at the back it is not so bad. 3xb Re: Room orientation 25Jun 20, 2007 1:17 pm 3timesbuilda Matt, Wouldn't it be better to have the doors away from the screen? I think the doors are fine.. just add some sort of internal locking mechanism to take care of pesky intruders. Re: Room orientation 26Jun 20, 2007 2:03 pm Cookiemonster But thats where the seating is. Where do you normally enter a cinema, front or back? I'm pretty sure there is a reason for this. Come in, sit down - simple. Cookiemonster I think the doors are fine.. just add some sort of internal locking mechanism to take care of pesky intruders. You married??? 3xb Re: Room orientation 27Jun 20, 2007 2:19 pm 3timesbuilda Where do you normally enter a cinema, front or back? I'm pretty sure there is a reason for this. Come in, sit down - simple. But it's a home theatre.. not a cinema. You have to make do with available space. You don't want to have to keep shifting a chair everytime you enter or exit the room. 3timesbuilda You married??? Yep. And 2 kids. Can you tell?
