Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Aug 11, 2009 6:45 pm Our theatre room will be 4070mm from the back wall to the screen wall x 4020mm wide. We are now worried that this may be too small to use as a theatre room. Could anybody out there advise. What would be the best projector screen size? Thanks in advance. I don't recommend going any bigger than 100" though, and less if you are not sitting right against the back wall... How ever stores like selby acustics sell foam wall attachments which change the way sound waves bounce off the walls giving a better experience. Using the foam pads any non audio junkie won't be able to tell the difference. As for the room size, I think it's fine. My HT will be 4410 x 3800 and that's wide enough to comfortably hold a 110" screen (although we'll be using 100", just a personal preference). If anything it your room may be a tad wide but with the pads I think you'll be fine. (or forget the pads and lengthen your room half a meter or reduce the width half a meter). ---------------------------------------- Building the PD Lisbon 24 http://www.porterdavis.com.au/#homeviewer/lisbon/24 Blog of our progress. http://lisbon24.blogspot.com/ Homeone build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28665 Re: Is a 4070mm x 4020mm theatre room too small? 7Aug 13, 2009 11:12 am My current room is about 4500 x 4000, but my chairs are probably 500mm from the back wall and I think the size is great. I have made the theatre room the same size in my new home. I think the 100" screen I currently have is about as large as I would go. Anything bigger and I think it would be uncomfortable to watch. If I had the space, or wasn't adding a billiard room to my new place, I would have put in a bigger theatre with 2 rows of seating. You won't get two rows in a room that size (like you see in some theatre rooms) but that being said, I am quite happy with one ! Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Not sure if that works? I was told the issue is the headspace clearance requirement on step 4.
