Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jul 09, 2009 7:46 am I have a couple of long car trips coming up shortly 6-8 hours and I would appreciate anyones feedback on a decent DVD player. Around 8/9 inch screen to keep a 4year old and 2year old happy. I will need to grab one this weekend. Price up to $300.00 is fine and a good battery life. No preferance on brand either. Re: Portable DVD player (for long car trips) 2Jul 09, 2009 10:09 am G'day, I picked up dual 7inch portable DVD (Soniq) from JB Hifi, about a year ago $179 with 3yr warranty. I thought the kids (6,4) would trash them but they just keep going, great for the car, great for camping battery lasts about 3hrs, also comes with mains plug and car cig light plug. wonuld definately buy again. as always with JB ask for the best price they can do. Matt Re: Portable DVD player (for long car trips) 3Jul 09, 2009 2:47 pm Thanks Matt, How does it perform in the car with vibration, that is my only concern. Having a screen each in the back should be a quiet trip. Cheers Michael He wants a dream home theatre - she wants a dream kitchen! Re: Portable DVD player (for long car trips) 4Jul 09, 2009 2:52 pm lol! We picked up one of these last weekend to keep the kids occupied in the cabin! it was from JB hifi and was $79! works well! Re: Portable DVD player (for long car trips) 5Jul 10, 2009 8:32 pm I have seen no issues with vibration, when in jb the other day it looks like the model has upgraded and looks a bit better than mine. It is definately an easy way for a quiet trip, cause you can also plug headphones in. Matt We have this exact same player. I love it. We also bought 2 for my niece and nephew and theirs are still going too. My nephew is as rough as guts. We paid $99 for ours about 6 months ago. They had a special at JB Hi Fi. We have had no probs with vibration. Re: Portable DVD player (for long car trips) 8Jul 10, 2009 8:51 pm I would also recommend that if you can find one in your budget that allows you to play two different DVD's at the one time. We have that system and it's great because our two children are at different stages with their viewing tastes, stops the arguments about what they are watching. Worked so well on our trip to QLD, they didn't want to get out of the car for breaks. An advantage to having twins I guess Re: Portable DVD player (for long car trips) 10Jul 10, 2009 9:07 pm Not sure what brand we have, but it is also a cheapy from JB. 2 screens, but only plays one disc, the kids have to take turns to pick... hasn't been an issue. Had it 18 mths, no probs with it at all. I LOVE IT!!!! DH and I now get to have conversations in the car.... and we haven't run out of things to talk about - yet buzz Re: Portable DVD player (for long car trips) 11Jul 10, 2009 9:17 pm I 'pimped' the mrs ride a while back! got a pair of these 9" babies: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and have a heap of dvd's and movies stored on this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We either have it playing through the radio or if we want some P&Q we stick the wireless headphones on and welcome the quiet! Extra difficult when you are driving over bumpy roads in a Mk3 Zephyr. Any complaining would have been solved by a good thrashing. Your not wrong kids have it good these days... dimensions on your original plan are inconsistent and with accurate dimensions (including site plan, upstairs and down) i could make a proper scale drawing with furniture… 3 7513 I looked into it a few years ago and my conclusion was to just build a carport that will support panels and get a system installed separately.
