Rodda i hope I'm not about to indulge in a bit of fear-mongering? Extension leads run in walls (or concealed under floors) that form part of a building's permanent fixed electrical wiring system do not comply with Australian Wiring Rules. Such power cords are designed for use in a free air situation. As such a power cord, especially in a new insulated building, would operate at a much higher temperate because of the trapped heat, the type of PVC plastic used to insulate the power cord cables has a much lower operating temp, and because the fine flexible copper wires age much faster (smaller gauge) than the single core or three stranded copper wire used for building power and light circuits. In short, power cords/extension leads are meant to be used only in open space for a specific use and on a temporary basis. Hope this clarifies for all. Hi All, see above image.
