Kudos to homeone (aka the boss) Matt Re: Ask your Home Theatre questions here... 10May 16, 2007 11:19 am vanderlay Hopefully people will have some questions now!! Just not ones like "Do I need this $350 cable the Harvey Norman guy said I had to have?" Well, thats exactly what happened to us at Harvey Norman..the guy was such a smooth talker..he also said to us its like buying an expensive car and using **** petrol!!!! I cant even remember what we bought now..I just know its meant to give the sound a big boost...we shall see... Re: Ask your Home Theatre questions here... 11May 16, 2007 11:32 am theyre quite well known for doing that...of course there are some cases when a more expensive cable can be better...but the stuff they normally sell, well, to use the petrol analogy, its like paying $10.00 a litre for unleaded....
Have heard when they sell a $5000 tv with a $350 cable they actually make more profit on the cable...people shop around and price check the tv and with the amount of competition the margins are very small...hence they are desperate to flog as many accessories as possible.... Re: Ask your Home Theatre questions here... 12May 16, 2007 11:57 am hmm...I found out what we bought from hubby...some audio wires, a hdmi cable and a 100ft speaker wires..I have no idea what brands...I think all up it was close to $500...as for the tvs, we are no tech experts, we do read up a bit but little product info is just as bad as knowing nothing.... so really we were sold on what we liked virtually and what sounded good enough for us..I guess it all comes down to what you are willing to spend at the end of the day....for me I rather spend it on my walk in robe... If only! Looks like I have ventured into unfamiliar grounds here....let me ask you guys...how much would you spend or how much have you spent on a full home theatre system? Maybe I will rephrase that, what do you think is a reasonable or necessary amount to spend on a system based on these requirements - 60 inch plasma 5.1 sound system dvd player Re: Ask your Home Theatre questions here... 16May 16, 2007 12:44 pm Ladyice,
