When I planned my HT room I left a GPO in the ceiling for the projector. But now I am thinking of connecting the projector back to my equipments cabinet where I'll have an UPS, so the projector will have time to shutdown and cool the lamp in case there's a power outage during usage.
So my questions (probably to sparkies here) is can I just run a 15m extension power lead from my ceiling mount projector down to a corner wall where the UPS will sit? Or do I need a sparkie to run a single extension lead that I purchased from Bunnings for me?
Reason is I've read from other forums that any electric cable that is concealed need to be installed by licensed person, as there are fire risks and can void insurance claims. Though to an uninformed person like me I fail to see the difference, as I'm using the extension lead to connect the projector the same way as say a vacuum cleaner, only the former is concealed in ceiling (illegal if installed by me?) and latter is run on the ground (therefore legal?).
Anyone licensed to help (pun intended ) will be appreciated.
