Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 May 28, 2009 4:15 pm In my new place Im planning on having the stereo equiment hidden away - part of back wall which joins the garage (hopefully that will be able to sort out any ventilation issues) Looking around at wall plates etc is there any advantage to getting say clipsal plates or are they basically all the same within reason? Also although the tv will be on the same wall should I still run cables to wall plates behind the tv or is there a better way of setting things up? Also can anyone recommend a good IR repeater kit - will be controlling a reciever, dvd recorder, cd player and pay tv box Here is a image of thew lounge setup, tv will be located in the recessed area on the end wall and hoping to have stereo shelfs etc beside it....any comments on location etc welcome Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks Re: Advice on Wall plates etc 2May 28, 2009 4:23 pm unfortunetly Clipsal and HMP are very different even tho they look the same from distance each other Mechs don't fit only by a beees weanier, (clipsal is rounder then HPM) then after all you will need to choose which clispsal range you like the look of tho you can taylor each room to your own tastes so say in the garage you have clipsal 2000's and in the kitchen you have Classics with the brush alimimum covers, and you have some of the saturn range in the HT room Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Advice on Wall plates etc 3May 28, 2009 4:40 pm Pugs unfortunetly Clipsal and HMP are very different even tho they look the same from distance each other Mechs don't fit only by a beees weaier, (clipsal is rounder then HPM) then after all you will need to choose which clispsal range you like the look of tho you can taylor each room to your own tastes so say in the garage you have clipsal 2000's and in the kitchen you have Classics with the brush alimimum covers, and you have some of the saturn range in the HT room Thanks Pugs, will be going for Clipsal stuff as you have mentioned - as far as speaker connection plates go is it still worth going for clipsal branded? I have also heard clipsal do not discount much on the saturn range, any suggestions on the best place to purchase - I do see the odd piece on ebay but not in any sort of quantity. Thanks Re: Advice on Wall plates etc 4May 28, 2009 4:42 pm I'd go the one brand all the way through the house looks better, even from different ranges they still "match' each other, Just get your data cabler or sparky to buy them... they get trade discount and then usually mark up 30% but still cheaper then buying yourself also saves alot of working out of what you need back onto them.... also if you need to change anything like the classics covers you can simple buy new covers at sparky wholesalers, and fit them yourself.. yeah saturns are expensive they are clipsal top of the line model even just the classics with a covers on them look just as good IMO. also i was just picturing what would look best heck it is your house and definetly not forcing saturns on you... personally I'm going classics thoughout the majority of my hosue when i build... and the basic "lowend" 2000's in the utillity rooms of the house Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Advice on Wall plates etc 5May 29, 2009 1:55 pm re the IR, take a look at Clipsal starserve. You can control any IR equipped device from any IR target installed in the house, plus distribute telephones, data, and TV wherever you want, also view cameras (eg front door) at any TV. Good system Re: Advice on Wall plates etc 6May 29, 2009 4:39 pm cabler re the IR, take a look at Clipsal starserve. Rod, sound wise I will cable for 6.1 and run cable's to the alfresco and family room Also will won't data, phone & pay tv to multiple rooms - all coming back to a central location - what do you suggest? I was looking at star serve but it does get quite pricey Re: Advice on Wall plates etc 8May 29, 2009 9:01 pm What I suggest is a combination of bits, but at least it's modular and you can replace/upgrade one piece at a time instead of the entire puzzle. You can get IR repeating systems for less than $200 ($300 if you want one that's guaranteed to work with Foxtel): http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storef ... =244548511 http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storef ... =245078924 Component Video AV Distribution amplifiers (1in-4out) for less again: http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/storef ... =247650285 even for HDMI...
