Do you give a certificate for laying out the cables for network like the electrical?
Thanks
nope only if you terminate the first socket do you need to provide proof of it... data cabling still needs to be done by either a Rescricted or Open cabler...
the telstra tech will supply one to anyone who builds
if a client asked for anyting I'm sure i could print/ email them a letter ...
We understand that running cables through your roof and installing the termination points yourself requires a licensed electrician.
What about if you where to use these.

The only difference with that and running a cable along the floor from your router / switch is the fact that your cable will be in the roof space. And you have to install a wall plate.
So with those, would you still need a licensed electrician to install?
Yes...
and any connectors used shouldn't be connected to the network unless they are "A-ticked" if you want to buy your own not that it works out very ecommonical tho
My understanding is that you can wire your data cabling yourself as long as you don't connect it to the telecommunciations network. You are free to do all the data cabling and low voltage wiring you want. You need a license to do anything that directly connects to the telephone lines or for mains voltage (or any voltage above a certain level with 12V/24V being OK.)
well you understanding is flawed as it needs to be by a data cabler because it has the ability to be plugged into the network reguardless
if you are wiring a "remote" building that is connected to a wifi signal then yes any tom **** and harry can do it.. < talking therorical situation not giving anyone the green light to wire up but in a household and most business the risk to the network is a dead certain... even if you don't what is stopping the next people who move in to plugg that wired up network into the greater telecommunications/ carriers network...
I don't mean to sound like a smart *** i just have a real passion for my job
