What if i like internet access in the rooms as well? Is it the same cable? or i need to install another CAT5e/CAT6 cable solely for internet access? Rooms that are close, i can consider wireless. Thanks As Rodda has indicated, run multiples of LAN cables to those rooms that you require Internet access. Remember the audio/video streaming device will usually be away from the area in the room where you’ll be using the Internet. You should avoid having cables draping over the floor, likewise adding switches to a LAN cable is relatively cheap and easy to do; but IMO can and does become unsightly, much better to have these type of devices out of sight. WiFi is also another option for some of your Internet devices. Re: What does this mean? 11May 15, 2009 3:17 pm much understood.. thank you all... guess the next step is trying to find someone to do the cabling.... is starserve system recommended? Building in Harvest Lakes, Atwell (Perth) status: design phase with builder Re: What does this mean? 14May 15, 2009 7:23 pm depnds also if you wan tot distro TV signals aswell... IMO star serve is good if you have or are wanting to have foxtel/ other "TV" distro'ed around the house... and even to a point some of their parts are ok but ther networking gear is far form great..... tho if you are serious about good Networking and TV signal distro I'd go for Hills/clipsal TV distro gear and then leave the networking side clear of it and be a seperate enity terminated in the study... while 100Mb is fine for most avi and such when you are talking large files that are blue ray disc's you are better off having some head room in the network and using GigE gear esp if you have others trying to use the network at the same time. even with two runs two each room that is 12 runs ... so all that is is 2 x 6way wall plates... and a seperate single gang wall plate for the incoming phone.... Why would you suggest separating the TV and data circuits to different areas if they are considering to install a product along the lines of Starserve?
