HT room is 6170x4480 and I wanted to avoid having the unit above lounge. I haven't seen this unit in action, how load is the fan. Cheers, Re: We decided to purchase our first HT, where to start ? 8May 09, 2009 6:41 pm cfham With the EPSON TW3000 and a 108" screen what would be the recommended set back of the projector and would be a good distance for seating. Cheers, It isn't very loud at all (I coudn't hear it in my testing with the projector sitting on the table right next to me), you could have the screen as close as 3.2m or as far back as I think 6m for a 108" screen... For seating, THX recommend you sit no further out than 3.8m from the screen. My seats will be about 4m from screen, but if I find it too far I will move in closer. 3.5m could be the sweet spot I am thinking but I won't know until I set it up. Re: We decided to purchase our first HT, where to start ? 9May 10, 2009 5:01 pm Just placed the following on lay-by from the 'Big Picture People'.. Yamaha RX-V3900 Yamaha 525 A-PMD 7.1 speakers Yamaha 2x pairs in-ceiling 525 speakers I'm planning to use the two pairs of the in-ceiling speakers as two sperate zones which are fully supported by the receiver. Setting up these speakers would by just running the 24 AWG cables directly from the AV receiver to the speakers. Am I right ? Cheers Re: We decided to purchase our first HT, where to start ? 10May 13, 2009 5:04 pm iTalk Just placed the following on lay-by from the 'Big Picture People'.. Minimum would be 16 metres provided your runs are less than 12-14 metres. ANything more than this would be a 14AWG or a 12AWG! Where did the 24 awg recommendation come from? Re: We decided to purchase our first HT, where to start ? 11May 13, 2009 5:38 pm I have no idea where I came with this figure from I might've been tired and didn't know what I was writing. I wanted to go 10AWG first but they're really expensive. A Selby representative recommended 12AWG instead
Re: We decided to purchase our first HT, where to start ? 12May 13, 2009 9:45 pm I would have said 16 or 14AWG. Thick speaker cable is great, but remember you still need to jam all of that thickness into the speaker terminals on the back of your amp (for the binding posts on the back of all decent speakers this is not an issue, but it certainly has been one for various amps (AV Receivers) in the past...). Re: We decided to purchase our first HT, where to start ? 13May 20, 2009 8:53 pm hi guys, do u think its cheaper to get the projector from this site ? its in singapore currency http://shoponline.com.sg/index.php/cPath/109_164 Re: We decided to purchase our first HT, where to start ? 14May 20, 2009 9:05 pm It depends on how much money you think an Australian warranty and support is worth, because you won't get that with an overseas purchase. 11 41643 Thank you.
