I'm in the process of building and wanted some suggestions of my lounge media room configuration.
I initially thought that I could put a screen on the right hand wall but wouldn't have a great deal of room and chair config would be tight or a large screen.
My next through was to put the screen in front of the window with heavy curtains between the window and the screen. Would this work? This configuration would also suit maybe 3 lounges, 1 at the back of the room and 1 each on the sides and would work if we were using the screen of not.
What screen size would be best for each config? Can you of any other options to configure?
Was thinking about a motorised screen.
Please see the image attached.

Yes blackout curtains and a drop down screen would work just fine, you would just need to make sure you dont get a 'halo' of light around the curtains.
In that case get the biggest screen your projector can project onto.
Using the right hand wall has all sorts of problems, like you would need a projector that supported short throw distances as it would also have to be out of the way of the door.
You would also probably put 1 lounge to the top and 1 to the bottom of the room, neither on centre.
So yeah, with that configuration I would buy a pull down projector screen (or if budget stretches and its a dual use room an electric one) and blackout curtains for that window.

Absolutely you should put the screen over the window, and it should be motorised (with IR control).
The length of the room is enough to easily allow for a 110" or perhaps even a 120" screen (you can get 115" too). It depends on how far back you plan on sitting, the type of projector you want (DLP may limit the screen size to 110"), and that you still have enough room either side of the screen for your speakers.
