In order to achieve best pic and sound what is the best way to connect blu ray to amp and projector? Can i connect projector direct to blu ray with hdmi and use optical audio from blu ray to amp??

IIRC Optical cant do the 'lossless' codecs on newer Bluray stuff, but chances are neither can your amp, so nothing lost there. Otherwise DVI will give the same quality image if thats a choice. Re: Connecting blu ray to non hdmi amp 4Mar 03, 2009 3:47 pm You can connect this way, but you will not get any of the new HD audio formats (Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio) without the audio being sent via HDMI to the amp/AV Receiver, unless the Blu-Ray player has 5.1/7.1 analogue outputs (not as common as you'd think it should be) and can decode HD audio internally and send it via the analogue outs (your amp/AV Receiver would also have to have 5.1/7.1 inputs).
You will get regular Dolby Digital and DTS digital audio signals though.
