Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Feb 21, 2009 10:59 pm What is the RRP for the Starserve unit ?
What kind of prices could I expect to pay to network my house ? I am looking at getting 4 phone points, maybe 12 data points throughout the house. What are the advantages of the Starserve distribution system over just using a moden and router for the data and getting the individual phone points put where you want them ? Cheers Phil how long is a peice of string ?? why do people want phone points??? if you want a networked home you need network points and use a cordlees phone for any other phones besides 4 points with 4 phones will not make telstra (the main carrier) happy will cause line faults if not filtered propperly. we can't give you a costing with out mesureemnts from a centeral popint and with out looking at a plan or a bare bones house either.... ata rough guess 12 data points is close to $1200 (purely for cable and wall pate sand install labour) + plus all the hardware needed like switches and racks Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Price for Starserve 3Feb 22, 2009 6:15 am Check these two threads out for info on the product.

In construction or built? single or two story? brick veneer or full brick? phone/data only or TV as well? I will post prices in the starserve thread. Licenced Sparky and Data Cabler If "The Data Guys" is too long to type, TDG will do. Re: Price for Starserve 4Feb 23, 2009 12:59 pm if you are already wiring to a central point with your data points i don't really see any need to make separate phone points. Get your phone point pulled into where ever your central is then get a few extra runs of cat5.
We put in a 24 point rack in my place for cat 5 runs. At different times we have had phones/fax/voip plugged into it for what ever reason. Been brilliant so flexible. The bedrooms have 2 points in each so could run a phone, RCA for music from the media server or LAN access for a laptop. Then there are 2 points in other common places like kitchen for phone, behind TV, 4 points at each desk in the study. My desk at the moment has 1 LAN for PC, 1 LAN for laptop, 1 connected to the land line, 1 running USB over cat 5 to the printer hiding in the cupboard. Re: Price for Starserve 5Feb 23, 2009 2:30 pm pretty much the most cost effective way to wire up a house gives it so much more flexibiltiy then just ethernet ports in each room Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Price for Starserve 6Feb 28, 2009 12:52 am whats the main reason you want a Starserve install? if its only for Data (and phone) then there are less expensive ways to do it. the cabling will cost you the same but the real advantages of Starserve kick in when you're distributing signals over RG6 for TV's around the house.
FYI, I'm putting Starserve into our new house but I am running 26 RG6 antennae feeds with it and modulating 2 Foxtel boxes, DVD player, PVR and media player (USB off PC) down it. IR setup's a bit complicated and not every outlet will be in use at the same time but I dont want to rearrange a room and find that I have to run an antennae feed across a doorway or around 3 walls of the room so lots of outlets and a patching matrix in the enclosure. rounded prices I paid for Starserve quipment Base unit for Starserve (3105VDU38IRT) - $310 4 Channel Modulator (3105M4SIR) - $570 Large surface mount enclosure - $400 Hope that helps Building a Riverview Bay Lodge with Ownit in Redland Bay Wow I hadn't realised things had gotten that pricey in just a couple of years since I built, that is crazy with how much land is now costing if you aren't lucky enough to… 3 7136 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35332 Just to makea point about this, an approach that some people have found sucessful in negotiating these rises down, Is to provide some workings to the builder, specifying… 4 81734 |
