Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Jan 19, 2009 10:25 am Hi there, I'm renovating my soon to be home and though I should complete all the necessary cabling before fit the skirts and paint all the wall.
I need a TV aerial installed, with potentially 4 outlets. I also want to run Cat5e/6 cable to 3 rooms (probably 30m of cable) + install a phone point to the study. Is there one "cable guy" that can do the whole lot?? If yes, what sort of cost would I be looking at.... I'm in Melbourne (North/East) so if there's someone you specifically would recommend, that would be a bonus. Cheers. i believe you need a telstra or some sort of licensing before u can do telephone. technically u need an electricician to do network cables ... but most antenna guys can do the network and antena but i doubt if they can do the telephone ---->Some say that a recession is when your neighbour loses his/her job while a depression is when you lose yours!<----- Re: Antenna + Data + Phone - Can someone do it all?? 4Jan 21, 2009 11:54 pm Call a data cabling company.
You need someone with AUSTEL approval for the phones and they typically have network data cabling expertise and test equipment for data cables these days. The TV - coax is easy - but most cablers will not be bothered wihth terminatig it but can pull it for the tv guys to terminate. Look for a data cabling specialist - as ask rad here - I'm sure he can do 2/3rds of what you need and he will know someone who does the phones. I wouldn't be calling an electrician. Re: Antenna + Data + Phone - Can someone do it all?? 5Jan 22, 2009 6:48 am Thanks everyone. I think the data guys are the way to go... sounds like I should be abe to get them to run the coax as well, then get a Antenna guy to install an antenna and terminate if required.
Thanks to those who pm'd me with suggestions. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Brilliant - thanks so much for that.
