I showed Hubby and he is very impressed also You have done a great job in your theatre room Matt!! What colour did you choose.. I noticed that you were having river rock 'oyster " Is that the same colour and finish for the theatre room? Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Painting theatre room... including the ceiling? 6Jan 13, 2009 9:44 am Absolutely. If the room is going to run a projector setup then, unless you have a really good reason not to, you should paint the walls AND the ceiling a dark colour (and get dark coloured carpet, curtains, furniture, etc...). The less ambient light in the room the better the picture bouncing off your screen. Re: Painting theatre room... including the ceiling? 11Jan 14, 2009 1:53 pm Hey Matt,
Nice setup man... can i ask how big is your room? I am going to have a room about 5m x 4m. Do you think its worth putting in a step up like you have there? i like the idea but i don't expect to have too many visitors so i was just thinking of doing one row of seats rather than too. I'm worried my room is too small for two rows of seats especially when i really want to extend the seats for the foot rest so i can lay back and chill. thoughts Matt and anyone else? thanks smeags. ---->Some say that a recession is when your neighbour loses his/her job while a depression is when you lose yours!<----- Re: Painting theatre room... including the ceiling? 12Jan 14, 2009 1:55 pm Matt,
noticed you have the center speakers on the floor. Bit low for it there isn't it? how come you didn't put it behind the screen or raised slight higher? wouldn't that sound better? Precious. ---->Some say that a recession is when your neighbour loses his/her job while a depression is when you lose yours!<----- Re: Painting theatre room... including the ceiling? 13Jan 14, 2009 5:28 pm Centre speaker behind the screen = Micro-perforated screen. Not the preferred option...
Room 5m deep is really not deep enough for 2 rows of seats... I am going to have a room about 5m x 4m. Thanks! Not unless you have 2 rows of seating...and the room is not deep enough for 2 rows. Make is comfortable for yourself first and then everyone else. Beanbags are great ! As for recliners just make sure you get the ones that fold into themselves (ie when they go down they slide forward) allowing the chairs to go close to the back wall. Re: Painting theatre room... including the ceiling? 17Jan 14, 2009 7:16 pm Is an awesome room Matt... Maybe my next house I'll have a theatre room like that..
What size room is it by the way and what size screen is that (I'm guessing about 120 or so? I assume that it is 16:9 ratio. I was looking into going scope but it seems to much of a hassle to get an anamorphic lens setup. Also can you measure the width of one of those 3 seaters for me? Cheers, Andy Re: Painting theatre room... including the ceiling? 18Jan 14, 2009 9:18 pm thanks Rod I suspect it's too small but it's nice to get a second opinion
Once again nice setup Matt I noticed you got the acoustic treatment for the front speakers right? ---->Some say that a recession is when your neighbour loses his/her job while a depression is when you lose yours!<----- Re: Painting theatre room... including the ceiling? 19Jan 14, 2009 10:00 pm smeagol thanks Rod I suspect it's too small but it's nice to get a second opinion Once again nice setup Matt I noticed you got the acoustic treatment for the front speakers right? I am trying them out currently, yes! We have just bought in a batch to sell and I figure it is better to have some real world experience with how they work to be able to better describe how they work, placement etc. Re: Painting theatre room... including the ceiling? 20Jan 14, 2009 10:24 pm wakeboardandy Is an awesome room Matt... It is a nice room...we enjoy it a lot The room is 7m x 4m x 2.5m high ceilings. The screen is 135" and 16:9 of course! I have just done a deal with an Australian manufacturer of scope screens and cinemascope lenses (I have a Benq W20000) which may replace this screen in the very near future! Watch this space The theatre suites are 2800mm wide with the 3 seats. I just checked the DAMRO website and it appears they have gone up by $400 to $1599....wow!
